So this movie ... i think ... was early 80s ... it starred Roy Scheider as a sheriff (i'm a little fuzzy on that because i confuse him with Daniel Travanti & James Woods) ... he's dealing w/an inmate who has a carousing girlfriend trying to seduce the Sheriff in order to get special treatment for her bf ... one poignant scene inolves a yellow raincoat .... thanks for any help that can be given

Could be Fast Walking (1982) w/ James Woods.

Now available on dvd as part of the WB archive collection.
I know that i need this one [Cool]

yeh i was thinking fast walking,never seen it but been wanting to watch it for some time.

can't recollect any prison movies from scheider during the 80s and have checked travanti's filmography and nothing points to him doing a prison movie either.

i'd second atomiks guess and go with fast walking!
