Any other fans of this heroic bloodshed movie, directed by John Woo, and starring Chow-Yun Fat (the ultimate action hero)? It's a movie with lots of amazingly choreographed slow-motion shootouts, 80's cheese, a synthesizer soundtrack and a lot of melodrama with gay undertones. A cult classic.

I know a lot of folks prefer Hard-Boiled, but The Killer is my favorite John Woo film. A friend of mine worked for Woo a ways back. He says that he is a quiet guy who doesn't even like guns. Amazing!

Love Žem both and A Better Tomorrow series too. Woo and CYF was a deadly duo back in the day!

Yeah, I once saw a documentary about him, in which he stated that he originally wanted to be a preacher! You can still see a lot of religious symbolism in his movies.

Woo and CYF were quite the combo in their prime: arguably the world's greatest action director and coolest action star. I read a dead-on essay years ago about how guys like Stallone and Van Damme acted liked they each had a cool screen image, but only Chow Yun-Fat really was cool on screen.
It's sad that neither Woo nor CYF ever found a niche in U.S. films. Apart from "Face/Off," Woo's style just got so diluted by the Hollywood machine, and CYF got his butt kicked by the English language. Oh well, their body of work is amazing and will live on.
