.. there are probably a few Rewinders that held their breath as they clicked on this topic and began reading it!
However, the real reason for this thread is for each of us to have some fun and play matchmaker for different characters from some of our fav 80's movies.
The way this works.. I have randomly chosen 9 guys and 9 girls as well as one wild card from each gender to be selected for first dates Chuck Woolery 'Love Connection' style. The wild card choices can be any character from an 80's movie that you want to include.
The trick is: you have to use all 20 choices only once and do the best you can to pair them up in a way that makes sense to you. For this particular love connection.. please only pair up guys with girls.
Hopefully, we will all get creative with this game because I'd totally love to hear your insight into some of your choices if you find the time.

I want to play-but about 7 of these people I either haven't seen the movie yet, or saw it so long ago I don't remember them or the story!

My picks for those I know would be Frankie and Bruno X, Billy and Fred look like they could go together. I could see Samantha with Daniel Larusso (wild card).

So maybe I was too ambitious..
my new plan is to give you my pairings and hopefully others will see how easy this really is .. plus there are interesting combinations to think about.
And Bamersy.. I totally swiped Frankie & Bruno X from you because that is the coolest!

So here we go..
1. Chris Parker - Adventures In Babysitting & John Bender - The Breakfast Club
I mean .. Chris is used to dangerous situations and John Bender definitely needs a babysitter!
2. Billy - Satisfaction & Kuch - Vision Quest
They both have interesting takes on life and have some entertaining personalities that I'd enjoy seeing mess.
3. Denise Green - Summer School & Chris Knight - Real Genius
I would enjoy the spunky chemistry between these two misfits... plus Denise has a strong will and quick wit to keep this intelligent guy in line.
4. Louise Miller - Teen Witch & Fred Bailey - Valley Girl
The perfect girl for Fred to impress with his wild and crazy romantic antics. Plus .. with her magic .. there will be no fear of any 'death wish' situations.
5. Pudge - Shag & Patrick Morenski - Hiding Out
These two just fit great together in my opinion. She is just so cool and he wants to be.

6. Christian Hollis - RAD & Corey Webster - Thrashin' (wild card)
Great combination of amazing sporting skills with personalities that defy the norm.
7. Samantha Belmont - Night of the Comet & Glen Lantz - A Nightmare On Elm Street
Both from horror and Glen could use a little Uzi protection.
8. Frankie Croyden - Tuff Turf & Bruno X - Modern Girls
Just an awesome pairing.. she has all the dance moves to get his word jazz going!
9. Robin Pierce - Once Bitten & David - The Lost Boys
Robin has experience with vampires in denial.
10. Jordan - Real Genius (wild card) & Toshiro Takashi - Revenge of the Nerds
I know Michelle Meyrink played a different character in "Revenge", but Jordan just seems right for Taskashi.
ha!!

I get it now
1. Chris Parker - Adventures In Babysitting & Glen Lantz - A Nightmare On Elm Street
Glen's parents don't think he's old enough to be left home alone, so they end up getting a babysitter whose about the same age. Chris and Glen get into all manner of adventures, which is just as well becasue that Lantz kid can't afford to sleep...ever!
2. Billy - Satisfaction & David - The Lost Boys
A junkie guitarist and a vampire, its no 'Mystery' how this ones gonna play out. They hit it off immediately, but its too intense to last. David's maggots trick just irritates her. In the end, Billy becomes a vampire (good career move)whilst David sulks off into the night muttering something about how he "...always prefered 'The Misfits'".
3. Denise Green - Summer School & John Bender - The Breakfast Club
Both familiar with compulsary extra-cirruclar learning. Denise goes on cool daytrips so they'd always have someplace to go. Bender can give her some driving lessons, probably en route to all those detentions...yeah right, as if he's actually going to go to them!

Kash.. your little plotline scenarios are awesome!
Chris Parker and Glen Lantz great combination!
Billy would totally make a great vampire guitarist. And David maggot trick would not impress her.
Bender teaching Denise to drive would be quite dangerous. ha

I love you Valman but it's kind of hard because you picked some odd ball characters lol I know you gave a wild card? uh but Valley!
Torshiro!!! c'mon??? and leave my man Booger out? I cant even pair anyone with him......Jordan noooooo.
I'd make Bender and Denise go out on a love Connection date......they'd both smart off at eachother and maybe have an awful time and i'd love to see the after date wrap up....muahahaha

give me some time Valdude, and i will think up some stuff.
i'm definitely liking Bruno and Frankie together. like you said...Bruno accidentally bumps into Frankie at the club while she's trying to dance around, she'd definitely yell "hey, watch where you're going!!" and then Bruno's word jazz could totally get her to show her sweet side.
now that i think about it, i wish they would have filmed Bruno's word jazz in Modern Girls. wouldn't that be a cool extra scene on the dvd that will never exist?
