ok you all........I use the Rewind to talk about movies that I love from the 80s because most humans are capable of talking about the Hughes movies or big budget blockbusters of the 80's.....but I come here because it's my guilty pleasure.......you all know and understand my 80s addiction....the thrill.....the hunt.....the love.
Only with you all........can I discuss movies I would be so EMBARASSED to admit to anyone else that I love and can't get enough of.

This is tough... I think for a movie to be a guilty pleasure, it has to be widely considered bad. But if the general public think something's bad, I don't really care because their opinion is usually dogma or repetition.
Also... if I like a movie I almost never feel guilty about it even if others think it sucks.
I'll need to see some suggestions from other people to know what kind of movies we're talking about.

Teen Witch
1.It sucks because people laugh at it's cheesiness and it has no big name stars.
2. Why I keep watching it? I can't get enough!!! for me Robin lively is a big star....so is Zelda.....I can't get the songs out of my head I can repeat every line.....Louise's outfits are remarkable....totally cheesy song filled moments and soundtrack.
3. Highlight for me:
"top that.....top that....I don't really give a uh....about trying to top that" little me would get out my ghetto blaster in the street and try to recreate this....I was so COOL.

Because it is an 80's teen sex comedy with crude humor and goofy situation.. and quite a bit of nudity. Also, throw in crossdressing to sneak into a girls school and you have the hijinks so many people loathe in this type of film.
2. Why do you keep watching it?
Well, despite all the gratuitous nudity and sexual innuendos there is a cute romantic triangle of 'lust' versus 'love' in play. Betsy Russell as the girl you 'lust' after and Phoebe Cates as the girl you truly 'love'. Also, the soundtrack is stellar with "Nasty Girl" by Vanity 6, "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow, and "Da Da Da" by Trio .
3. Highlight moment
The highlight of "Private School" and many already know what I'm gonna say.. is the awesome aerobics routine choreographed stylishly to the tune "The American Girl" by Rick Springfield.
I remember waiting with Cindy Mancini like forever for the DVD to be released and when I finally obtained it, I made a few of my friends watch it with me that night. The embarrassment set in right from the start when the opening tune was "You're Breaking My Heart"... one of my friends that is a girl will still bring "Private School" up occasionally.

The premise alone can explain why.. When three middle-aged and out of touch guys decide to snap up the hottest house on the beach, they're convinced that their new residence is going to be attracting all bikini-clad babes on the beach. But soon.. Hunter (I spill no wine before it's time), Rounder, and Ashby realize that it's going to be a much tougher job than they first thought.
2. Why do you keep watching it?
Because I watched this movie as a teenager through the eyes of Scotty Palmer and thought it was just a fun movie with a beach, girls, parties, and a great band.
3. Highlight moment
My favorite scenes in "Hardbodies" is actually when they go out on the town in the limo and later end up on the beach. Fun stuff!
My embarrassment here is that even though I'm a huge fan of Scotty Palmer and the movie.. I remember I was enjoying it late at night as a teenager and suddenly my dad is over my shoulder going .. "Uh .. whatcha watching there?".. and the movie was unfortunately on the photo shoot scene in the bedroom with all the girls wearing less clothing than would seem acceptable.. the even funnier part was that my dad didn't say another word and went back to bed.

Awesome thread, Muffy! I would probably count Teen Witch with mine too...but besides that one, most of my guilty pleasures fall into the horror genre, I think.
"Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers"
1. Why People Think It Sucks: People often associate it with the original Sleepaway Camp, which is considered by some to just be another Friday the 13th knockoff (but with a much more disturbing ending). Also, it's very low-budget, has lots of nudity, and two of the lead actresses are siblings of much more famous stars (Pamela Springsteen, Renee Estevez).
2. Why I Keep Watching: All of the characters are named after brat pack actors, it has some hilariously bad one-liners, and some imaginative death scenes...Plus the nostagia factor of course. It's a bad movie that realizes how bad it is, and just owns it
3. Highlight Moment: Love the campfire scene in the beginning when the campers are sharing scary stories.

Muffy, you definitely picked a great idea for a thread! This kind of topic is so up my alley and I'm glad you posted this for fellow Rewinders. Here's my first choice:
1. Eye of the Tiger
Why it sucks according to the mainstream: I've seen reviewers on IMDb complain about the overuse of the Survivor song that the movie uses the title of, the unoriginal vigilante plot line, and the similarities to shows like The A-Team and MacGyver. Like Logan 5 said, what the mainstream public says about B-movies is usually regurgitated opinions they read from the critics.
Why I enjoy it: Gary Busey! Seriously, he gives a great performance in EOTT as Buck Matthews, a blue-collar Vietnam veteran who lives in a small town and refuses to leave because it's where he grew up and he loves it. His angry speech at the town bingo game is some of the best acting I've seen Busey do, IMHO. Yaphet Kotto also turns in a good performance as Buck's friend J.B. Deveraux and has some funny one-liners, especially when they hit the warpath and fight the biker gang together. Legendary biker movie actor William Smith plays Blade, the leader of the gang who ends up squaring off with Buck in a one-on-one showdown. The end of the fight must be seen to be believed.
Highlight moment: I actually have two. One is the part where Buck lines wire across a street to decapitate a couple bikers. The second is when Buck, disguised as a hospital scrub, goes into a room where a biker is being held and shoves a stick of dynamite up his butt to kill him. What makes this killing hilarious is that Buck smears Vaseline all over the stick before sticking in the biker's rear and then lighting it. The dynamite ends up giving the guy a heart attack.

1. UHF (1989)
1. Why does it suck??..Well, to the general viewer it sucks probably because it's just too cheesy and screwballish. But this movie has gone on to reach cult classic status over time. So, to me, it can hardly be considered a "Guilty Pleasure." But apparently it is still considered to be just that to the general public.
2. Why I keep watching: Well, being a die hard Weird Al fan even before this film's release, it's pretty much a no brainer that I like this movie. Combine that with the brilliantly funny performance of Michael Richards in this movie, and you've got an essential comedy here. Which brings up the question yet again, Can this movie REALLY be bad enough to be considered "Guilty Pleasure?"
3. Highlight moment? Does one even exist in this film? The entire movie is a highlight moment. Especially every moment that Richards is on screen. But if I was forced to choose one at gunpoint...it'd probably have to be the RAMBO parody segment toward the end.
1. Why does it suck for the "normal" public? Well, it doesn't....if you're a 10 year old girl!!! I'm a 37 year old happily married man....even worse...my wife knows I love it! What was she thinking?!
2. Why I keep watching. Again, one of those movies as a kid I've seen dozens of times, a time of my youth that I didn't worry about what others thought...OK...I still don't really care.
3. Highlight Moment. " It's A Hard Knock Life"....just sayin!

1. Why does it suck? it's about Rudy trying to get laid , led by a dead porn actress. Rudy was a totally unknown actor at the time and my vhs copy has seen better days.
2. Why I keep watching? I saw this on USA Up all Night as a teenager and feel in love...it's so campy and funny. How can you not love 80's Dempsey? Kellerman was great. So were the bullies and Mean Gene....Shannon Tweed! Also his buddy Wendy and her transformation awwwww.
3. Highlight Moment: of course the salami!
#3 Little Darlings
1. Why it bites? It's a little girl movie about trying to lose your virginity at summer camp!
2. Why I keep watching it? Tatum O'neal and Kristy Mcnichol.....complete opposites played so well. That Angel is such a wisecracker....I love her.....honestly you feel for the girls so much towards the end....and the supporting cast were great!
3. highlight? Matt Dillion in his tighty whiteys...such a scene to watch now....almost cringe worthy?

1. why does it suck? to someone on imdb - it was just pants with big holes in! ,another reviewer said- it was with dark colurs and pretty strange? eh! then went on to say it was 30% enjoyable and 70% torture.
2. why i keep watching? because i'm a sucker for bad films,only kidding,because it's a classic of its type,what other film do you know where a group of teen vigilante's patrol the street with there pet poodle and there all wearing camoflague clothing ,even the dog!
3.highlight? 2 come to mind - when the mugger/ rapist steps out of the back of his van and james van patten says- you dirty b*****d and then blows him away,makes me think of jimmy cagney " you dirty rat" ,plus after getting most of his buddies blown away van patten thinks sod it and detonates a grenade which blows up himself and the rest of his surviving buddies,if that's how he treats his friends i wouldn't want to be his enemy!

Why does it suck? Well....it's a comedy....with Sylvester Stallone! The man can't act unless he has a gun or a pair of boxing gloves on. And.....there's country music all through it!
Why do I keep watching? Once again, a sentimental attachment via my childhood. I still get a chuckle out of it.
Highlight? When Nick (Stallone) is playing an old organ and singing/yelling in his apartment, which happens to be above a funeral parlor...he didn't know there was a funeral in session....pretty funny.

On The Right Track
Why does it suck? It doesn't. Just can't seem to figure out why not everyone on the Rewind doesn't own and cherrish this gem! Alas...there is little love for this movie. OK.....it is quite cheesy.....
Why do I keep watching? I loved Different Strokes as a kid...Coleman was a great little actor in his youth...good comedic timing. I've seen this 20 + times as a kid....and still like to watch it at least once a year.
Highlight? A couple scenes with Maureen Stapleton. And...Lisa Eilbacher looks grest in this movie.....I had a big crush.

#1. Staying Alive
sequel to Saturday Night Fever, which i like but i love Staying Alive way more haha. a total dance flick loaded with music by the Bee Gees..i love my dance movies..

lol..i think the Ronster just made things easier for me. STAYING ALIVE is certainly a "Guilty Pleasure" of mine. And worry not Ronnie, you're not alone. I too enjoy STAYING ALIVE more than it's predecessor. I guess we're a weird minority huh?..I like it because I think the soundtracks way cooler and the actual dancing is more awesome Not to mention the great chemistry Travolta & Rhodes share in this movie. I couldv'e lived without seeing Travolta flailing about like a madman in a loincloth though.
So anyway, very nice pick Ronnie and this is one i'm backing you up all the way on. So everyone, consider STAYING ALIVE my number 2 pick.

1. Why does it suck?: To the general viewer..it's nothing more than another stereotypical actiion flick..stock full of bad acting, even worse one liners, and Bridgette Neilsen...AHHHHH!!
Why I keep watching?: Pretty much for all the same reasons I mentioned above. I love this stereo-typical action flick. I love the bad acting. I love the cheesy one-liners..OK..the only thing I don't love so much is Bridgitte Nielsen. Everything else is gold.

Here's my second 80s guilty pleasure:
#2: Spring Break
Why does the mainstream public hate it? For the same reasons they tend to hate other '80s T&A flicks. Crude humor, misogynistic attitudes toward women, lack of originality: these are the typical complaints you'll hear from people who don't appreciate Spring Break and others of its ilk.
Why do I keep watching it? It's a period piece that more or less reflects the fashions, attitudes, music, and culture of the time in which it was made. Spring Break has good, honest performances by actors and actresses who look like they could be real people who go on spring break vacations regularly. The women are naturally beautiful, not all glammed up like they are today. In Spring Break, you've got the sweet, down-to-earth lass (Susie) and the voluptuous, irresistible vixen (Joan). Then there's Nelson, the shy but likable male lead who you want to see get the girl in the end. I also love the soundtrack, especially the scene where Nelson is running through the hotel to the tune of .38 Special's Caught Up In You. I'd be committing a cardinal sin if I didn't bring up Corinne Alphen's showstopping musical numbers, even though she was lip-syncing.
3. Highlight moment? Too many to list. One that does stick out in my memory is when the all-female band in the club, Hot Date, performs "I Want to Do it To You." Just thinking of Corinne Alphen in that tight pink suit and black boots drives me crazy! Rawrrrr!

Good call on Staying Alive, Ronnie. It doesn't get much better (or worse) than that, though I'll gladly admit to it being in my collection, right next to Saturday Night Fever.

Redeemed somewhat over the last decade, there was a long period of time when this (and G.I. Joe: The Movie) were considered the epitome of lame.

Bizarrely, there was a time when people thought...
Maybe folks were confused over how they felt about Autobot Arcee
But most of all I think it was just too damn traumatic for the masses. It had to have had the highest body count of any animated movie to date: old favourites (whose toys probably weren't selling as much anymore) were gunned down without remorse. Optimus Prime was martyred and an entire planet gets wiped out in the first five minutes (that's cinematic genocide on a scale not seen since Alderan).
2. Why do you keep watching it?

4. The Gate (1987)
1. Why it sucks? Well, unless you're a fan of these kind of cheesy 80's B horror flicks, then it's pretty much going to suck the same reasons all other films like it do. I'll admit from a general viewing standpoint, I can see how many would dismiss this film as pretty weak. The plot is laughable, the acting is pretty cheesy, and the special effects are pretty dated for it's time. So yeah, it's a pretty bad movie from a general perspective.
2. Why I keep watching? I don't think I need mention again that i'm quite the B movie fan. So just that fact alone is enough to keep me watching. But this movie also has a couple nice nostalgic factors for me personally...
A: It's among one of the earliest scary movies I can remember sneaking off to the Drive-In with friends to watch without my parents approval..hehe..we were such rebels.=)
B: The 2 main characters of the movie acted alot like a couple of my childhood friends.
So while this isn't among my all time top fav B Horror films..it can certainly be among my favorite "Guilty Pleasures."
3. Highlight Moment: The little stop animation ankle-biter demons...they crack me up now...but they used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid.

my #2 - Earth Girls Are Easy
this movie sort of made me wanna live in it haha. it's so ridiculous and fun. a wife to be, living in Cali, takes in 3 aliens after they land in her pool.

furry red, blue & yellow aliens...who get makeovers and turn into hunks?!? haha! it's a cheesy movie that has quirky, clueless characters singing silly music and dancing.

it's pure 80s, the clothing, the salon scenes, the club scenes, and the tall, dark and handsome Jeff Goldblum
3. Highlight moment?
vintage Geena Davis & Jim Carrey.. the scenes with Julie Brown and the Baby Gonna Shake tune.

Most on my Gulilty Pleasure list would probably fall outside of the 1980s, so I'll just quickly list them here, then let you lot get on with it.
In no particular order, my five are:
Blazing Saddles. Hilarious, sometimes breathtakingly stupid, but nowadays it's cited as the hight of racial offensiveness. Excessive use of the N-word for comedic effect is why people these days don't admit to watching it, but seign as the movie showcases the white guys as dumb and the black guys as smart, the point is lost on me. and it's still a real funny movie.
You've Got Mail. Overprocessed Hanks and Ryan fest, many would say that it's a saccharine-laden attempt to recreate the on-screen success of Sleepless In Seattle by keeping the two leads emotionally apart for much of the movie, but for me it's a much better effort, and personally I love the slushy feel.
Soft Beds, Hard Battles. Probably Peter Seller's worst ever movie, he plays many roles in this one, which basically tells the story of world War two from the view of life in a Parisien Brothel. somehow it has it's good moments, and overall works for me, although it's never going to win any awards for acting, script, cinematography, and certainly not for make-up.
HitchHikers Guide To The Galaxy. Most people who are HGG fans dismiss this as a very poor effort, but personally (as an HGG fan) I love this movie. The plot is cool, the sets and characters work well, Martin Fereman is good as Arthur (more of a victim than a bumbling naiive fool), Alan Rickman voices Marvin perfectly, and Zooey Deschanel is just wonderful as Trillian, both from a preformance and an eye-candy view.
Star Trek: Insurrection. It should be terrible, as it's an odd-numbered trek film. But it's not. It's.... comfortable. It played like a brand new feature-length episode of Star Trek TNG, which was and is just whjat I would have wanted. The lack of ILM's availability meant that the FX were less dynamic, but really you don't notice this.

Why it sucks? Well....it stars Kenny Rogers....and that's all I got to say about that!
Why I Keep Watching? Quite cheesy, but the child actors did a great job....Diane Lane in an early role...Anthony Michael Hall.....some pretty funny scenes with the kids. Also, Erin Gray looks smokin hot in this movie...well...in a 70's/80's kinda way!
Highlight moment? All the scenes with the young actors are good....one of the kids has a potty mouth and curses like a sailor....some great scenes!

don't mean to force a Jeff Goldblum overdose on you guys...But Ronnie's post reminded me of another Goldblum film I watched recently that fits under this catergory like a glove.
1. Why it sucks? Well, Cyndi Lauper's wasn't known as much of an actress in the 80's for one. And it really shows here. The acting gets a bit annoying at times. And Cyndi & Goldblum make the most odd looking couple imaginable. But, these flaws are actually this movie's strengths...if that makes sense.
2. Why I keep watching? Well, I don't. I only happened to stumble upon this recently by accident. I hadn't seen it in years, so I decided, why not..let's give it a go for the hell of it. And I'm glad I did. It's actually a very cute comedy. And since Goldblum & Lauper are both pretty strange people, I think they actually work pretty well together in this film. While this movie is still not among one of my favorites even after another rewatch, I still say it's worth a viewing if you've never seen. It was entertaining enough to make me want to try to hunt down a copy for purchase since I don't own this one.
3. Highlight Moment: The dance floor scene with Jeff & Cyndi. It's that part that sticks out to me because you realize just how much of an odd couple those two actually make..lol. Not just in personality but in physical size difference as well.

Charlie Sheen just called, and not only did he say that this thread was "Epic winning" but also that it had "Tiger blood". I think that's a good thing.
Of the movies listed so far that I've seen... I feel no guilt for liking any of them! Maybe I have 'tiger blood'?
However, I raise objections to the house for these movies:
'Little Darlings' 'Earth Girls are Easy' 'Blazing Saddles'
They are all good movies, and therefore no guilt need be felt.

3. Highlight Moment: The little stop animation ankle-biter demons...they crack me up now...but they used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid.

I haven't watched this movie in years. But I remembered that I didn't think much of it when I first saw it when I was younger. I guess it came off to a bit too cheesy to me at the time..not to mention I wasn't a huge Madonna fan when I was younger. But, as fate would have it..i just noticed this movie was added to Instant Watch this week. So last night I decided to give it a go again. I must say my views on this movie have changed drastically. I think I love it now..lol. Not only does it have vintage 80's written all over it. But, due to the fact that you just don't see great comedies like this anymore, it makes it that much better. And yeah, Madonna's performance is just priceless. And I think Griffin Dunne also deserves a big nod because he's really funny in this movie too. The scene that really took me back was when Madonna was in the music store boosting cassettes..hehe. Love it!
So anyway, I think WHO'S THAT GIRL has just catapulted itself into my no. 6 spot...ahhh Screw It!...i think it replaces VIBES, my no. 5....thanks Muff

Ha! Ok, 'Who's That Girl' is kind of a guilty pleasure. It's totally cheesy, but for me it represents the time I fell head-over-heels in crush with Madonna. In that sense I feel a kind of 'guilt' about it.

Why does it suck? Well....Justine Bateman was the lead role! The acting is pretty horrific to be honest. Seeing Julia Roberts in this movie, one would never bet she'd go on to such stardom.
Why do I keep Watching? I really don't f#$@ing know!!

3. Highlight.....when mom realizes she took some of the powder and starts disappearing and becomes a floating wig and glasses, classic!

1. Why it sucks?--Would have been better if Bill Murray would have played the lead instead of his highly unknown brother.
2. I still watch it because there are so many great 80s faces in it. Jennifer Tilly, Sally Kellerman, Wendie Jo Sperber, The little guy that was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High---?drawing a blank on his name,
3. Highlight was when they are trying to get the old woman into the house so that she can steal the ledger from the couple while they are "messing" around. Also followed by a hilarious chase scene.

So my next offering...
Like Father, Like Son (1987):
1. Why it sucks?: Welllll, this one's a little iffy. Half the people I talk to who've seen this movie say they love it. The other half can't stand it. So this is really one of those 50/50 movies. You either love it or hate it. So in that sense, it's really a toss up whether or not this can be considered a "Guilty Pleasure." But, we'll just say it is for the sake of this thread. The genral population of movie critics that didn't like this film say it was because of some bad acting and bad script writing.
2. Why I like it? I have to disagree with the neigh saying critics on this one. The acting wasn't stupendous, but it wasn't horrible either. And although Kirk Cameron does overact his role in some spots, it's still a good funny performance. But let's face it, I'm willing to bet whoever has seen this movie will agree with me that Dudley Moore easily steals the show in this movie. He is so funny in this movie that I still laugh out loud at many of his scenes in this movie. Only his performance in ARTHUR tops this one IMO. And it doesn't top it by much. It can also be noted too that Sean Astin gives a pretty funny performance too as the best friend.
3. Highlight Scene: There's quite a few Highlight scenes for me in this one. All Dudley Moore scenes of course. But if I had to choose a favorite. It'd probably have to be the scene where Chris Hammond, who is actually now in his father's body after the brain transfer, and is thus now played by Dudley Moore...(confusing I know..lol). Anyway, the scene where Moore goes to the hospital where his father works and has to pretend like he's a professional doctor..all those scenes combined would have to be my favorites.

3. Ghoulies II (1987)
Why do mainstream viewers think it sucks? The Ghoulies series has always been ragged on by reviewers for being derivative of Gremlins (one of my all-time favorites, BTW). Things like how the little Ghoulies are able to kill people, the romantic subplot between Larry and Nicole, the song by WASP on the soundtrack, and the ways the Ghoulies kill people are cited by different reviewers on the IMDb as why they think Ghoulies II is trash.
Why do I keep watching it? The Ghoulies get a lot more screen time here then in the first movie, for starters. The Ghoulies were portrayed more as background characters in the first Ghoulies, since the main focus was on the lead guy resurrecting his dead father. Ghoulies II, OTOH, pulls out all the stops and gives the title creatures the billing and time they deserve. After all, they are in the title of the movie. Imagine if in Gremlins, it took until the last thirty minutes for the mogwai to finally transform into the bigger gremlins and start wreaking havoc in Kingston Falls. It'd be a very disappointing movie, right?
I also have to single out Phil Fondacaro (Sir Nigel Pennywright) and Royal Dano (Uncle Ned) for their performances in Ghoulies II. Phil was funny with his constant Shakespeare quotes and applying them to different situations in the movie. Dano likewise was hysterically funny as an alcoholic ex-magician who thought he could still perform magic. It was sad to see his character die, but he was developed well enough so the audience could identify with Uncle Ned and feel bad when he dies.
Lastly, I have to give John Buechler and his SFX crew three cheers for their work. Buechler is one of the unsung greats in making monsters and gave each of the Ghoulies a distinctive personality. I wouldn't say they're as good as Gizmo and the other mogwai in the Gremlins movies, but the five main Ghoulies have their own character traits so that they aren't a random menagerie of monsters.
What's the defining moment? Easily when Phillip Hardin runs into the trailer bathroom, sits on the toilet, and gets bit on the rear by the water Ghoulie. It's up on YouTube so I'll post the link here for everyone to check it out. It's funny!
OK Valley, as no one else has owned Up, I WILL be the first to admit to Mannequin to my guilty pleasure. I will watch this everytime its on, Just a great feel good movie. My other guilty pleasures, well lets see...
Paramedics, Moving Violations, Recruits, Megaforce, Biggles, Earth Girls are easy.
Or to be honest ANY cheesy comedy, The cheesier the better. Always on the lookout for Bad 80s comedys.

This is pretty hard one to find nowadays.. Italian Indiana Jones rip-off which throws in elements from every possible genre you can come up with. I have it on German dubbed vhs. I saw this for the first time around '89 or '90 in another German version which had 2 sex-scenes edited in.. 1 of those scenes was lifted from The Further Adventures of Tennessee Buck (1988).. i never managed to find out where the other one came from. The version i own now does not include these scenes.

Okay my choices so far, were:

#4 - SING (1989)
This one doesn't get talked about much on this site, or at least...it did in the past but it's been a while.
A Brooklyn highschool is on the verge of being closed down, when the senior class fights to put together their annual SING show at the end of the school year.
1. Why does is it suck? (to the normal public)
It's described as a cross between Footloose and Fame, but good in it's own way. Very cheesy but great music and dance numbers, which you all know I love!
2. Why do you keep watching it?
The school punk/bad boy falls for the goody goody girl..plus Patti LaBelle as a teacher, singing with her students in class, Lorraine Bracco showing her dance moves and the teen characters are a riot.
3. Highlight moment?
A montage of the kids auditioning for SING, doing Madonna's Like A Virgin and it's horrible! haha
The soundtrack is totally awesome. Original music for the film and show, including the 'come together' song at the end by Michael Bolton! Other songs by Patti LaBelle, Nia Peeples, and a love theme by Terri Nunn & Paul Carrack:
As I have mentioned many times, for years I was in charge of SING at the school I work at. Probably too many years (8) but I probably loved doing it thinking of the movie that I watched many times growing up.
If you like musical movies it's totally worth a view or two.
P.S. Few NY stages are like that one.

I watched Ronnie's suggestion of "Staying Alive" last night for the first time in years and had a blast. Though I apparently had a mis-step and fell of stage while recreating Travolta's dance moves during the 'Satan's Alley' finale. But I still recovered in time to strut around my dance cave at the end.
And there is no way I would have known that was Joyce Hyser without Ronnie pre-warning me. Wow.. that was way cool.
Poor Jackie though.. I'm glad they worked it out.. but it would be hard to feel secure with Tony Manero and his perfect hair!
Hey.. was that Sylvester Stallone staring me down on the sidewalk? Well, apparently Ronnie didn't notice because she was too busy staring at John Travolta dancing in a loin cloth. ha

Gotta give it up for Frank Stallone and his cool grooves in the movie. Great soundtrack!

i've been coming to fast-rewind for years, but never looked at the forums. i've spent the day going through topics and i'm loving these boards!
my 80's guilty pleasures are teen witch, it takes two, porky's, hunk, and times square. i'll drop anything that i'm doing and become completely engrossed in all of them.
hunk was the movie that i would rent all the time when i went to the video store as a kid. i was convinced it was called california hunk for years because of the tag on the vhs cover.
times square was a recommendation from one of my professor's in college. as i watched it for the first time i was amazed at how bad and how wonderful it was all at once. it was the first movie that i immediately started over and listened to the dvd commentary.

So, I'll go ahead and throw another on here since I'm bumping this for good measure.
I'm stepping out of the 80's just by a hair for this next one.
Madhouse (1990)
Just caught this one again recently when it played on one of the Encore channels. This was one I remember liking back in the day. Can't say it still holds the same spark it once did, but it was still fun to watch again.
1. Why it sucks (to the general public)? Again, like my first pick back on page 1, (UHF), this is another of those off-the-wall kind of comedies that most general viewers will just dismiss as dumb. But if you are a fan of these kind of screwball flicks, then there's a good chance you'll like this one.
2. Why I keep watching? While I may not be as much of a fan of the screwball comedies as I once was. There are still some like this one that still are passable as funny to me. This one came out in 1990, so I think it still has a good amount of that 80's hangover feel to it that too many films after tried a little "too" hard to preserve. Overall, there are a lot of dumb and cheesy moments in this movie with some pretty mediocre acting to boot. But it still has that nostalgic charm that keeps me watching.
3. Highlight Moment: Hmmmm? That's hard to say for this one. The whole movie is pretty much like one long running gag. So it's hard to pick a highlight moment. I did always get a kick of how that damn cat never stayed dead though..lol

I had to narrow it down some to not only guilty for mainstream audiences. Most of our favorite films are ridiculed. Instead, I'm having to pick some that 80s obsessed nuts who love "License to Drive" like me might be guilty about admitting they like them.
1. Ultrawarrior
(Starring Dack Rambo and Meshach Taylor... Watchout for the underground mutants that force their women to "work menial underpaid jobs..." A movie with messages!)
2. Voyage of the Rock Aliens
(While much of the movie is laugh-at-able - I sincerely enjoy much of Rhema's music - It's that cheerful newwave that makes any day a winner! Plus, Craig Sheffer... dreamboat badboy posing with a drugged-up mountain lion!)
3. The Double O Kid
(I used to own a screener copy of this where it would be interrupted by ads asking video stores to buy the value pack (something like 6 copies of the film) and praying Blockbuster would do it. Wallace Shawn saves the day!)
4. Rock and Roll High School Forever
(So many reasons to hate this film, but yet you can't - it's so pitiful... yet so fun! Boomshakalakaraka!)
5. Communion / Dreamscape (Combo!)
(Snakeman? or the Walken? I would love a crossover film... The fun thing I just realized while typing this is that the author of Communion had a radio show called DreamLAND! Crossover title has been confirmed... Countdown to filming... magic begins in... 5,4,3,2 - Ahhh! Greys sticking needles in your face! Ahh! Snakeman hiss attack!)

Reading all these in depth posts on these "bad" movies just makes me want to watch them all all over again. Looks like "Staying Alive" and "Sing" got some of the best responses. My top three guilty pleasure movies:
1) Jaws: The Revenge (1987) I hear many people say it's "One of the worst movies of all time!" Well, actually I'm going to have to disagree with that. I think this film is great.
2) Troll (1986) The film probably isn't the best, but when I watched it with my friend we both thought it was very entertaining.
3) Stepfather II: Make Room For Daddy (1989) This film managed to keep me hooked. Jonathan Brandis did a fantastic job. I know it's a sequel to the original Stepfather, but I actually liked this movie. Terry O'Quinn did a great job, too!
