Another movie i'd never even heard of before....I just watched this week thanks to Netflix referring me "80s thrillers".
Looks like it was The Cohen brothers first film writing and directing??? also McDormand's first role?? Does anyone know if that's true?
I actually had no idea Francis McDormand and Joel Cohen have been married since the year this movie was made!

I haven't seen this in a while. Probably a good time as ever to revisit it. Only seen it once, but I remember liking it. Thanks for the reminder, Muffy

It´s a good movie. First time watched it in the late 80s and again a decade later. So yeah, it´s time for some Blood Simple in the 00´s for me too.

I have looked up Wikipedia, IMDb and (in Frances' case) Leonard Maltin, and they are all correct.

Saw it recently-thought it was good too. Lots of plot twists! If you're going to leave a man for dead-make sure he really is!

I've been asking friends...."do you like Cohen bros movies?" of course they go yeah....then "have you seen Blood Simple?" and no one has!!
I've been referring it like crazy.........i'd love to get the thoughts of some of you guys that haven't
Thinking of it being them at that time and their first film.....it really has it's moments of greatness

I saw this one in the theatre back in the day after I'd read so many reviews saying that it was great and that the Coen brothers were going to be the next big thing. It was, they were, and I've loved most of their films since then. ("Barton Fink" and "The Man Who Wasn't There" are special favorites.)

Blood Simple is a brilliant, very subtle début feature. The athmosphere really comes to life thanks to the great photography (Sonnenfeld) and the music score (Burwell). Visually it's about just as stunning as Raimi's Evil Dead.
