Who remembers seeing this movie in theaters as a kid back then?
I did! i saw it three times when i use to live in San Diego when i was 7 back in november and december of 1988 even after Christmas. I had some merchandise to this movie like stuffed Oliver, PVC toys, Mcdonalds finger puppets and ornuments, soundtrack on cassette, readalong book with cassette, PJs and a jar with oliver & dodger on it.
I was kind of sad it never came out on video the next year or the next but i had my merchanidse to remember. Then in 96 when i was 14 my friends and i were dicussing on the film coming back as they were remembered watching it back when they were 7, 6 and 5 years old and i enjoyed watching it again in theaters and even bought it when it finally came to video after all these years. I did replaced the tape in 2002 with the special edition DVD and i enjoy watching this movie every thanksgiving as a nostalgic tradition.
Fun movie and great soundtrack! Sykes was total badass in this movie as he looks like an animated Clarence Bod****er from Robocop.

I always loved this one as a kid........I own a clamshell VHS.........maybe it's time to revisit it sometime soon Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :
Seen today it essentially comes off as what it was for the animators: a final tune-up before the main event, as they put into place the last bit of skills they needed to then reel off 4 straight masterpieces of the genre. That said it's a reasonably good picture, one that keeps your attention through to the end.
