Watched Two of a Kind yesterday and it was a highly entertaining Travolta/Newton-John flick.
Hereīs the plot:
God has had just about enough of the human's attitude so he will destroy the planet very soon. It is up to a struggling inventor and a bank teller, both with very amateur criminal minds, to save the world... (IMDb)
Hmmm.. letīs just forget the silly plot, thereīs so much more to enjoy in this one. Good cast, nice fashion/haircuts, cool NY City street scenes, awesome soundtrack...
And hey, they used IntroVision in this one. IntroVision is an in-camera visual effects process in film production for combining foreground performance with pre-filmed background footage. It was a cool effect first used in the movie Outland (1981)
David Foster (St. Elmoīs Fire etc.) was the mastermind behind the soundtrack. Check out these cool tunes:
This movie was a major flop but i think that itīs a nice feelgood movie. I just read that it was originally opened citywide at Christmas-time 1983 so people didnīt have much x-mas spirit back then If you havenīt seen it go and get it. You might like it too.

I actually kind of liked this movie when it played on HBO. When "Two of a Kind" was released, I think the public was still disappointed that John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John were not in "Grease 2". So this movie just never quite found an audience.

Hmmmm....now this looks like an 80's movie my wife will watch with me...I mean...she's made me watch Grease 100 times (exaggerating, but somehow, I'm thinking not too too far from the real number). Fair is fair....I'm gettin' it. And speaking of fair is fair...I'll make her watch Billie Jean too....

I've got to say, this movie flopped because it was a mediocre film that paled into comparison next to the competition around at the time. I like JT and ONJ very much, and think they always have good chemistry, but the story for this just didn't hang together very well. I can watch it, but it's pretty clear why it tanked. Just like 'Xanadu' this was good idea for a movie tied to a bad script. I can watch it and enjoy it, but I'd never miss it if I didn't ever see it again.
'Twist of Fate' is a great song, though.

i love the twist of fate song.
and i like this movie because of the silliness between john and olivia. i think it also had a lot to do with the whole grease thing. otherwise a lot of people wouldn't have bothered. if i had to imagine some other actors in the lead roles, i'm not sure it would have been watchable.

I saw this in the theater but haven't seen it since. I was a HUGE Grease fan-saw it 13 times in the theater, had posters, a scrapbook, collected the trading cards, was Sandy for Halloween-you get the picture!

"Bamersy, can't you see... I'm in misery..."
Grease is a great family movie (with a lot more crudeness than you'd get away with now!)
