Watched Tex yesterday and i liked it very much. Itīs based on a novel by S.E. Hinton and she also makes a cameo on the flick. The movie was directed by Tim Hunter (Riverīs Edge)
I love the cast! Matt Dillon was simply awesome as Tex and Jim Metzler was good as his older brother. Meg Tilly shines as Dillonīs love interest. Emilio Estevez was solid in his first feature film. Bill McKinney, Ben Johnson and Phil Brock are the other co-stars.
All in all this was a very good small town teen drama. Get the dvd while itīs still available!

Never actually seen it yet, but I do recall it getting heavy rotation on HBO back in the day. Perhaps I could give it a look-up at some point.

Any excuse to post a picture of hunky Matt Dillon with his shirt open, right Atomik? You're not fooling anyone!
Liked this one. It's not amazing and it doesn't have a great story. But it comes across like a well-cast, enjoyable TV movie.

of course Atomik! and it was appreciated .........I always had a Matt Dillion crush after Little Darlings......it was on tv a few days ago and the scene where Matt stands up in his underwear I almost had to cover my eyes.....he was so little and young!

Filthy!
Don't think the 'almost' went unnoticed, either!
Though it does bring up an interesting point; when does it become inappropriate to still have 'echoes' of feelings for stars when looking at them as they were when you first liked them?

Logan that made me laugh!
and a good point.........the "teens" in 80's movies were so much older then the age they were playing most of the time??? Brad in Teen Witch was 25! omg and little miss Louise was only 17 haha
I was 12 swooning over a 25 year old! haha
Now how old was Matt Dillon in Little Darlings??? hmmmm

So what? I'm over 25 and I swoon over 12 year olds all the... oh wait, you said you were 12 and... eh... let's just move on!

He was sixteen-ish and therefore you are a crinimal and a prevert... or are you?!

I loved SE Hinton's books and read about 5 of them back to back in the early 80's.

TEX was the first VHS movie I ever rented. Had it bad for Matt Dillon. Still do!
My best friends theory about crushing on your 80s crushes is this: Are you and that person the same age now? Or at least pretty close? And yes, Matt Dillon is older than me so if I still get happy when LITTLE DARLINGS goes on TVand I still get the same thrill of excitement as I did as a kid I dont think that makes me a prevert. Matts older than me.
And I dont remember 16 year old guys lookin like that when I was 16!

Your best friend is a prevert!

Prevert!
I think the reality is, when we watch these movies again we aren't seeing them objectively as adults would when viewing something new, we're bringing our own feelings from the past back and tuning into what we saw rather than what we see.

Well... Matt Dillon was a movie actor, so that automatically places him a rung above. Nah! You just spent too much time swooning over the boys in the magazines to notice all the cute guys with crushes on you! *Sniff*.
