Pulling this film out of the scary movie thread for some discussion:
"Vamp" is about two fraternity pledges hoping to win over their fraternity brothers by delivering them a stripper for the night.. they ultimately journey to a rather creepy part of town and slowly realize it isn't very safe after dark.
Chris Makepeace is fantastic as Keith and he’s well matched by 80's bad boy Robert Rusler as AJ his awesomely cool pal.
Gedde Watanabe plays Duncan an extension of Long Duk Dong as a wildly over-the-top dude who comes along for the ride. Hey it was his car..
It doesn't seem so at first glance.. but there is a lot going on in "Vamp" ... while brash AJ goes backstage to try to hire Katrina played by Grace Jones .. Keith catches the eye of one of the waitresses, whose professional name is Amaretto and insists she recognizes him even though he has no idea who she is. Here we find the my fav performance by Dedee Pfieffer who plays the adorable Amaretto. But is she really as innocent as she seems?
To be honest, Grace Jones is not a fav of mine, but she is quite outrageous and effective in this movie. Her scenes with Robert Rusler definitely didn't seem vampire sexy though.
"Vamp" is an entertaining flick that falls right into the comedy horror area that I so enjoy!

Vamp is a good and funny movie! Cool teen cast plus wicked Grace Jones. I loved the After Dark club and the late night LA scenes.
I love Gedde Watanabe. Sadly i already own all his 80s flicks except The Spring (1989) I wish there´d be more.
Anyone remember the short lived tv-show Gung Ho, based on the ´86 Gung Ho flick starring Michael Keaton, Watanabe and Mimi Rogers?
It would be fun to see the 9 episodes they made. Scott Bakula and Watanabe were the stars.

never heard of that tv show. I'd love to see it. Fan of Bakula and Watanabe, although I never watched his show with Ray Romano... (Bakula's)

Haven't seen this movie since the late 80's! I just put it in my Netflix queue! Should be a fun visit down memory lane. =)

Great vampire movie! one of my favorite horror comedies, i saw this back in 87 with my big brother when he rented it on video and i was 5 years old, i re-rented this movie when i was 14 and loved it as i even bought a copy of it. I later replaced the tape with the DVD.
Grace Jones did a great performance as Katrina and Deedee Pfeifer was a cutie. Say Valley, do you think this is a REAL vampire movie compared to "Twilight"? at least the vampires don't glitter in the sunlight in this movie.
Do you think this movie influenced From Dusk Till Dawn?
If you like this movie Valley, you should check out:
Lair of the White Worm. Martin. Near Dark. Lifeforce. Sleepwalkers. Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter. Love at First Bite. Let The Right One In. Thirst (2009). The Forsaken.
Seen those?

Hey Harry.. everytime I watch "Heavy Metal" I envision Harry Canyon as being played by Bruce Willis because of the movie "The Fifth Element"..
I've seen most of the movies you mentioned except.. Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter or Let The Right One In ..
"The Forsaken" was great with almost an 80's feel to it. I thought "The Lost Boys" sequel was decent.. I just wish Corey Hiam could have gotten straighten out enough to be in more than the deleted scenes.
From your list.. I'd go with "Martin" as my fav.
If we are talking all-time fav vampire flick.. "The Lost Boys" is way out in front of the pack for me.

Also check out The Hunger, Vampire Hunter D (awesome 80's anime) and The Keep for other underrated 80's vampire movies. And do you like Near Dark as well Valley?
And do you believe this movie is similar to From Dusk Till Dawn?
