They just released Walter Hillīs classic The Long Riders (1980) here on dvd.
What do you guys think, what is the best western made in the 80s?

I vote for "The Long Riders," "Pale Rider," and "Silverado," in that order. Can I consider "Outland" and "Near Dark" to be Westerns?

I'm watching Pale Rider right now! Definitely one of my fave Westerns of all time!
The Long Riders bored me to death! Didn't like it at all.

That is a good list.
Next iīm gonna get this 1989 Billy the Kid tv-movie. Val Kilmer was so cool in the 80s.

Westerns is probably one of my least favourite genres, and by the 80's, it was all but dead. I do find most of the Clint flicks watchable though!
And you can't go wrong with the modernized 80's western vibe of these two classics!

Extreme Prejudice rocks! I need to rewatch Lone Wolf McQuade soon.
Alex Cox did two modernized 80's westerns in 1987 which i like very much:
Straight to Hell & Walker

I watched Lone Wolf McQuade not too long ago...one of my fav Chuck Norris movies. I'll have to do a bit of research on 80's westerns before I decide on a favorite...I have tons of westerns, but not many from the 80's....

The Man From Snowy River besides The Grey Fox.
I intend to write Rewind reviews for both of them. I haven't seen the latter, though I would like to.
Incidentally, I notice that "Western" isn't in the genres. What is going on, Nick?

Devolution here,
One of the great things about Long Wolf McQuade is the buried truck scene. So vivid to watch it as a kid it made me buy it on DVD.
