Best movies about the 80s / Movies that are set in the 80s, any favourites? ...any movies capture the era better than most?
Some of the Bret Easton Ellis adaptations capture it best for me, American Psycho, The Informers..

"The Last Days of Disco" is great movie!
Posted by Crash (Member # 7484) on :
All three of Stillman's movies are great. I wish he'd do more films. "Disco" was '98, and he hasn't done a thing since then.

The first 15 minutes of "There's Something About Mary" takes place in the mid-1980's.
The movie "Boyz N' The Hood" first takes place in 1984, before it jumps to the present day 1991.
"Love And Basketball", starts in the early 1980's, then jumps to around 1988, and then jumps to the late 1990's.
Some lesser-known (but excellent) movies... "In America", which takes place in the early 80's.
"Peter's Friends". The first few minutes takes place in the mid-1980's, then flash-forwards to the present time (1992).
"Game 6" (from 2005). Stars Michael Keaton as a Boston Red Sox fan living in New York City during the 1986 World Series.

Just ordered Prey for Rock & Roll (2003) dvd.
Prey For Rock & Roll is the story of Jacki and her all-girl rock and roll band, Clam Dandy, who are trying to make it in the LA club scene of the late 1980's.
Anyone seen it?
Posted by Bodhi Zephyr (Member # 9067) on :
hey Atomik, haven't heard of this but I love the sound of it!! LA club scenes, and rock chicks, a winning combination!
