As I've mentioned before.. I've never been a huge fan of Andrew McCarthy, but his teaming with Rob Lowe in the movie "Class" made for a film that was both fun and tragic at the same time.
This flick is seldom mentioned, but I remember it playing all the time on HBO. This movie is considered a launching pad for so many brilliant careers and it is a blast to watch "Class" now and see so many familiar faces.
Here are a few folks you don't want to miss..
Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) Virginia Madsen (Modern Girls, Fire With Fire) Casey Siemaszko (Three O'Clock High) Joan Cusack (Say Anything) Lolita Davidovich (Adventures In Babysitting) Suzanne Snyder (Weird Science, Killer Klowns From Outer Space)
But as most people already know.. the real reason to watch "Class" is for the guy pictured below:
John Cusack is a hilarious scene stealing unknown in "Class". But from the moment he utters his first line.. you just want the movie to be more about his character.
If you haven't watched this movie in awhile.. I highly recommend.

Ive seen this one a few times and my one qualm is how it goes from being funny to waaaay dramatic. Its like they sewed two different movies together!
Im much happier with the first half - and I think thats why I find myself re-watching it.
My sister lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvves Andrew McCarthy. I wonder if shes ever seen this one?

Love the movie, hate the poster.....
Andy Mac looks like a retarded mental patient, foaming at the mouth!
Also, I never quite understood why they would give the movie's twist away on the poster. Sure, you'll be able to figure it out in due time, but it seems a little premature to give it away, even before people sat down in their chairs!

Good movie. I agree with Mamamia - the fusion between the comedic and the dramatic is a little clunky. I have a soft spot for it, though. And it's nice to see Rob Lowe before he became 'pin-up Rob Lowe'.

For some reason I never liked Class. And yet... It is one of my favourite Cusack Movies.
He and his gang are the only reason that make this movie memorable to me.

Love it. Probably why I had an older woman complex growing up.
I'm also a sucker for 80s movies set at school. There's usually hijinks galore.

Its not even like they have it be a Sex Comedy once he sleeps with the Mom. It just screeches into "Dead Serious" mode. They even make the Mom an alcoholic to really kill the "Ha Ha Factor"! And there are times when it looks like Rob Lowe is gonna FLAT OUT KILL Andrew McCarthy (maybe he saw FRESH HORSES> bad joke)
But as for the whole pranks at the college thing - I love that! Good stuff!
Maybe I should buy a copy and just watch the first half from now on!

Class is another great movie with a fantastic cast.
Written by Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt, the same duo which wrote Secret Admirer (Greenwalt also directed it), so it´s funny that we talk about these two movies at the same time. Great work Valley!
BTW, this movie has one of the most hilarious finnish names. Straight translation:
Yankeebag and lacepants!

I thought that was the "Ha Ha Factor"?

That's what I do. Ok, the ending is pretty good, too. But the middle section... ugh.
