Could it be that you are remembering the other Alphaville hit "Forever Young" which you can hear in the Kirk Cameron/Jami Gertz flick Listen to Me (1989)

Big in Japan is on the same CD as Forever Young. It's not my favorite of theirs but it's not that bad.

I can't recall Big In Japan being used in a movie right now (too many songs and movies in my head), and I can't find any mention of it on the net. Sorry roons! Hi roons, you can buy the song from itunes for 99p or you can buy Alphaville - first harvest: best of 1984-1992 for £9.95 from Ebay it has a few more songs that you may like. Hope this helps
