"The rumortastic follow-up to 1989's Ghostbusters II is finally confirmed all round, with Ivan Reitman -- who directed the first two movies, along with Stripes and Junior -- telling MTV News this week that the script is in progress, he will be directing, and Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson will begin shooting this year."

So it's not going to have Alyssa Milano and some more "younger" stars as new recruits? Can't remember where I heard that.

Several circulating rumors over the last decade had said the main heroes would serve mostly as mentors to a younger group, much like the Extreme Ghostbusters series of the late 90s. As with most fans, though, I'd prefer Venkman, Stantz, and the rest of the gang saddling up for one more big bust, so if this is indeed the path they intend to go now, I at least won't be disappointed in that regard. One such similar script, one Aykroyd said he'd worked on about a decade ago, but that Columbia dismissed as too expensive at the time, had them in fact going to Hell after overcrowding "dowstairs" forces more spirits back up into our world. It would at first glance seem a reasonable story to pursue if that's still the active script; if not, they could always adapt from the Real Ghostbusters; I would enjoy seeing big screen incarnations of the Boogeyman, Samhaine, or a couple other classic villains from the series.

That bitch!
You just cannot trust Sigourney Weaver to keep a secret! I'm gonna have to talk to her about that.
You know what? Forget it! Call it off. Pack up everything - we're going home. Attention please everyone: Ghostbusters 3 has been cancelled. Sigourney's ruined everything! I know I know, send her some hate mail or something.

Read an ABC article from this weekend that says Murray is not doing Ghost 3 but many others are still interested. Anybody else heard any positives about it going forward.
