this must be a long forgotten movie because I cannot seem to find anyone who remembers it but this is all I really remember about the film.
I remember seeing it on HBO in the mid to late 80s. it is something like BMX Bandits kids being chased by bad guys and one of the bad guys where's some kind of suit and mask reminded me of Darth Vader kinda. It might be an aussie movie but that is all I really remember about it thanks!

It really rings a bell, but sadly I can't recall the title offhand. If I remember right, when the bad guy took off his mask it turned out he was someone the good guys knew. Maybe I'm thinking of Scooby-Doo?!

no it's not a scooby doo movie because it's live action and not animated. I think you're that they might've known who the person in the suit was.

I haven't watched BMX Bandits with Nicole Kidman, but that sounds like it.
It's been coming on The Movie Channel and FLIX channel recently.

If not that, then I can remember Fortress with Rachel Ward, where kids are being chased through the Aussie outback by guys with masks?

thanks to all the people that tried to help but someone on another message board pointed me in a good direction that fits the plot. There is a kids movie from new Zealand called young detectives on wheels and like BMX Bandits it's about kids being chased by jewel thieves. The kids are trying to clear their fathers name also there is a man dressed in a black suit and mask that chases them on a motorcycle. It doesn't appear that it's ever been released on DVD.
