Lets try to compile a good list of some of the "other" teen films that were not as popular...I need to find some I have not seen before.
Modern Girls (Girls also club hop...) The Wild Life (Great music & cast) Summer School Fast Food Rich Girl (1991) Hardbodies Hot Moves (pretty funny) The All Nighter (I think this is 80s) The Night Before Lover Boy Heaven Help Us Private School
Thats all I can think of at the moment, anymore you can recommend would be great, I think the best teen flicks are the ones that had a small cast.

A lot of the movies mentioned don't seem *that* forgotten to me, but perhaps they are to the average viewer
Off the top of my head:
Pretty Smart Breaking All The Rules Nobody's Perfect Tomboy Reckless
I'm sure I'll think of more later
(also, Miracle Beach from 1992 has an 80's teen vibe to it, sort of)

I agree. But I think we're dealing with a sort of gradient; there's like an 'A, B or C' of film fame, and there's an 'A, B or C' of viewers experience and knowledge. To many of us most these films are well known, but step outside these hallowed halls...

As a group we have discussed so many 80's movies that an average person has long forgotten, it is difficult to distinguish which movies to list at times. As I typed my beloved "Valley Girl" I almost deleted it because to us it is no way forgotten, but mention most of the movies listed above at your workplace and see the reaction you get!

Even though Rich Girl was made in 1991 i really love this movie and i am mad that they haven't put it on dvd

Indeed! Well said.

What a great start to that sentence
So true though. As much as it pains me, I know you are right. I hate thinking of any of these movies as 'forgotten' or 'not as popular.'
Valley Girl forever!!
I will add a few more to the list:
Private Resort (hated by some, enjoyed by others ) Sweet Sixteen Student Bodies The New Kids (Lori Loughlin... mmm Send Me An Angel! Secret Admirer and Rad already mentioned...) The Night Before (More Lori!) 18 Again Dream A Little Dream (seriously, is this forgotten? not by me )

Just noticed 'The Night Before' is in the first post, guess I should read more closely
Instead, how about:
My Best Friend Is A Vampire
I really wanted to say The Dream Machine, but it is from 1991

Another couple missing are '14 Going on 30' and 'Senior Trip'.

Three that I'm anxiously awaiting on DVD are...
Out Of Bounds (1986)Anthony Michael Hall, Jenny Wright
The Wild Life (1984)Eric Stoltz, Chris Penn (RIP)
Little Darlings (1980)Kristy McNichol, Tatum O'Neal
I don't know what the hold up is on these three. So many lesser movies with nobodies in them are out on DVD but these three are not.
I don't know why.

Nope. For me a teen movie has to be about teenagers. Coming of age might be a good term.
I recall 'Idolmaker' being a good movie. 'TNTLWOIG' I didn't really care for.

How about the six degrees of a teen movie..
"Idolmaker" which actually is a great movie might not qualify according to Logan's rules .. but one of the teen idols from the movie is played by Paul Land who played Stu in the infamous teen movie "Spring Break"..
Oh and how can you not call "Idolmaker" a teen movie when you have an appearance by Maureen McCormick aka Marcia Brady? ha
I actually agree with Logan5.. but even if we win, if we win, HAH! Even if we win! Even if we play so far above our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days; even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at our side of the field; even if every man woman and child held hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn't matter because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Mohawk because they've got all the money! It just doesn't matter if we win or we lose. IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!

The Idolmaker was good-couldn't watch it enough on HBO back in the day-course they played the same movie over and over (and over). Great soundtrack. 'TNTLWOIG' is my Mom's all time fave so I sorta have to like it. Watched it the other day-1st time in years.
How do you submit a movie to the 80's list/write a synopsis/review?

Even if we play so far above our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days; even if God in Heaven above comes down and points his hand at our side of the field; even if every man woman and child held hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn't matter because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Mohawk because they've got all the money! It just doesn't matter if we win or we lose. IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!
That was easy for him to say. He wound up one of the famous rich guys! Whither thou, rest-of-the-cast?

In that case you have to like it. I found McNichol to be depressing (and probably depressed) for the whole movie.

Terrific thread. Of the movies mentioned, "Thief of Hearts," while not a teen film, is very undervalued. We all know what happened to Steven Bauer, but whatever happened to Barbara Williams? She's great in this.
"Out of Bounds" is no great shakes, but the Stewart Copeland soundtrack is brilliant.
And what can I say about "Certain Fury," the classic tale of two once-promising young starlets on the downward slide into this really sleazy piece of gutter trash? I love it!

Here is a list of some that I didn't see in the list.
Big Man On Campus (The Hunchback Hairball of L.A.) Feds Hoosiers Pet Cemetery Project X White Water Summer

Gosh, "Feds," along with any other movie with Lea Thompson, wins the "toilet flush" award--after you see the film, you can't remember a darned thing about it. It's like someone flushed out your brain. Seriously, can anyone quote dialogue from this one or perhaps "Casual Sex"?

I did mention Thief of Hearts~I guess I was thinking more "forgotten 80's movies" then teen ones. Though I was a teen when all these movies came out
Saw Casual Sex in the theater/still like it. Andrew Dice Clay and all his muscle poses, that horrible therapist guy. Here's a quote:
"I love therapy. I think everyone should be in therapy."
"That would be good for me."

Actual quotes from "Casual Sex?"! (which I believe actually has a question mark in the title) You are on your game! I had totally forgotten the the Diceman was in that. :-)

Devolution here,
"I'm the best of the east, I'm a wild and crazy beast I'm the Vin man."
I love Casual Sex?, it's awesome. Oddly, I like FEDS too. But Lea Thompson and me = must watch.
I own the tape.
We are DEVO

lists are good but not when they include titles that arent really teen movies. its very confusing!
example: the pick up artist is not a teen movie

I met a Scottish girl (10 or 11) in Mallorca once who had a thing for Robert Downey Jr, and kept saying, "Robert Downey Jr... mmmm!"

Hey guys, good news. I just got word from the top that this thread has made the grade.

just watched the pickup artist the other night. i hadn't seen it in a long time. i liked seeing it again, but was quickly reminded of how odd i found molly ringwald's character. i kind of understood her a bit better this time around but still, very odd.
i had forgotten about dennis hopper being in it.
and i love the remix of levert's "casanova" playing throughout and at the end of the movie haha.
