I think Alec's memory is a bit hazy. She's Having a Baby was filmed in 1987, not 1986. And Hughes had not yet created the Home Alone franchise.

Alec Baldwin never quite lived up to this potential as an actor IMO. Davis was a cool character, everyone still talks about his cameo in Glengarry Glenross and the few laughs to be had in The Departed were all down to Baldwin's comic timing.
Good interview though, a picture is formed about how Hollywood treated Hughes and how that may've led to his consequent departure from the movie business.
