Just wondered what actor or actress from the 80's the rest of you would of liked to be and why? For me i think Charlie Sheen would of been a good bet young at the right time in some good films and lived the lifestyle away from the film set.

If we are talking 80's only, then pencil in Tom Cruise for me. Risky Business, All the Right Moves, Top Gun, and C0cktail was quite an impressive run. And I've got every style of RayBans to prove it.

Tom is a real good choice.He had the best line in a movie of all times,(i feel the need the need for speed).

Tom Cruise has made several mistakes in recent years and people that once loved his movies seem embarrassed to admit it these days. Even I had to question some of his off screen behavior, but there is no denying that he has made several flicks that I enjoy.
Here's a more obscure choice for this topic, but someone that seemed to have lots of fun in movies in the 80's. I'll go with Clayton Rohner. He got to dance and make out with Deborah Goodrich and Joyce Hyser in "Just One of the Guys", enjoy some exotic positions with Deborah Goodrich in "April Fool's Day", play a dual role and basically get Cynthia Gibb, Daphne Zuniga, and Virginia Madsen to wanna hang out with in him in "Modern Girls", and finally he got to share some time with one of my favs Deborah Foreman in the flick "Destroyer".

I only became a fan of Tom in the last few years. I'd really underrated him beforehand. Watching stuff like Magnolia, Collateral, Vanilla Sky etc made me do a complete u turn on him and go back and appreciate the older stuff. Love him
As for what actress I would like to have been, probably Jennifer Connelly. Once Upon A Time In America, Phenomena and Labyrinth is a pretty great mixture of films.

Good point Valley, Clayton Rohner got to hang with some outstanding ladies, don't forget Jenny Wright in I Madman as well.
As for actors I probably would pick John Cusack, Emilio Estevez, Johnny Depp and a left field pick would be Crispin Glover.

The Cruiser is a complete a$$, but he made some brilliant flicks and he is a good actor. He does portray the same character alot with his mannerisms and personality at times though. I still have to put him high on my list.

Riptide, John Cusack was an excellent choice. I remember seeing him in the movie "Class" as a kid and there was something about his personailty that just made me think he was destine for stardom. His role was extremely small, but he made it quite noticeable.
My fav 80's movies that he was the lead character were "Say Anything" followed closely by "Better Off Dead" and my fav from any decade is "Grosse Pointe Blank".

Good choices so far, I'm not going to say Mapother IV now, its too obvious though I'm liking the love for Cruise here: Great actor, would've won the Oscar for 'Born On The Forth Of July' had Daniel Day Lewis not turned in his beyond awesome performance in 'My Left Foot'.
Good to see 'Magnolia' up there too, what was Frank T.J. Mackey's line? "Respect the Tom, and tame the Cruise!"...or something very similar.
I'd have to say Bruce Willis because he seemed to have a lot of fun in 'Moonlighting' and then went onto create an action legend in 'Die Hard'. His songs weren't too bad either.
