I simply love her in Voyage of the Rock Aliens (1987)

I have a chance to buy The Lonely Lady (1983) vhs tape.
I just heard that it´s so bad it´s good.
Anyone who´s seen it?

I am not ashamed to admit I love that song she did with Jermaine Jackson - When The Rain Begins To Fall.

Worth a great mention though - if you google the movie name, the first hit is the IMDB page for the flick, the second hit is the Fast Rewind page here: VOYAGE OF THE ROCK ALIENS

He was on One Tree Hill a few years ago, but I don't watch that show anymore. That looks nothing like him on that vhs cover! He must have a lot of makeup on, and the blonde dye-job threw me off.

For the record, I was expecting Voyage of the Rock Aliens to big a huge pile of brown stuff...

...And it is, in a way, but it's just soooo much dumb fun too and both my better half and I loved the musical piece "Little bit of heaven"...

...We replayed it to death and ended up singing along (after a few drinks) to the wonderful inane lyrics and mimicking the great overblown performances of Pia + ABCD.

Love it. In fact, writing this makes me wanna see it again! [Wink]

OK, thanks to the computer's DVD player, I've just had a big fix of that song... Twice [Wink]

I defy anyone who loves top 80's cheese to not like the earnest, naiive, gushing and breathless cheese masterpiece that is "Little bit of heaven"... [Wink]

PS: I love the way that the front projection stars (for the background) are quite visible on them in the foreground. And I cannot stop myself from smiling at the way she sings the word angel as "Ainjell" [Big Grin]

It IS utter garbage, if memory serves, A friend rented it when we were teens and we watched it DEAD SOBER! I think we rented it "cuz the guy on the box was hot"...and HE is! It's Craig Sheffer (FIRE WITH FIRE and THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW are good picks, Ladies) I dont know if we knew that when we rented it.

I MIGHT be coaxed into watching it again if there is much booze promised to me.

Am I crazy or wasnt DEVO in this movie too?

Yes, it is utter garbage as an entire movie, but it has moments of brilliance. Just stick to the musical set-pieces and make sure that you've had a few drinks and are feeling in a fun mood. [Smile]

However, it certainly won't be for everyone! [Wink]

Well, i bought and watched the Lonely Lady.

It wasn´t a good movie, but u guessed it, i kinda liked it [Big Grin]

Early 80´s scenery, bad acting, lots of skin, good entertainment!

Now i just have to find all these strange Pia Zadora flicks.

Just bought Pia´s ´84 cd Let´s Dance Tonight.
Four songs are from the Voyage of the Rock Aliens movie.
Also four tracks are co-written by aor guru Mark Spiro.

I think that it´s a decent disco album.
You gotta love early 80s disco songs, i mean they have guitar solos and everything [Cool]

Wasn't she in one of the famous cut scenes from 'Star Wars'? It was someone like her.

Never seen 'Voyage of the Rock Aliens'.

Haha, it took over six years but i finally watched Butterfly (1982).
It´s directed by Matt Cimber and is based on the 1947 novel The Butterfly by James M. Cain (The Postman Always Rings Twice).
The film stars Stacy Keach, Pia Zadora, Orson Welles, Lois Nettleton and Edward Albert.

Butterfly received 10(!) nominations for the 1982 Golden Raspberry Awards so is it pure crap?
Well, no. Keach gives a good performance here plus i like the Ennio Morricone score and the cinematography looks pretty decent.
Zadora looks great but if you´re only looking for skin, you will be disappointed.

Sometimes the dialogue makes you laugh but i can´t help but like these controversial films.
Now i need to find Fake-Out (1982) which was also directed by Cimber.

Wow atomik, I don't even know how you found this thread! I don't think I've ever seen a Pia Zadora movie. I just remember her always being plastered across the tabloids. She was famous for being famous, kind of like the Kartrashians of the 80's. Wasn't she married to some billionaire at one time also?

She was also known for infamously winning the Golden Globe for Best New Star for Butterfly, beating out the likes of Kathleen Turner in Body Heat and Elizabeth McGovern in Ragtime. It turns out her husband wined and dined HFPA voters into watching Zadora sing at one of her concerts which could be one of the reasons why it was rumored that her hubby at the time bought it for her. The Best New Star category was eventually removed from the next year's Golden Globes while Zadora and her husband eventually divorced in 1995.

Trivia: Zadora was once married to Jonathan Kaufer, writer/director of one of the most obscure, underrated 80s comedies, Soup for One. That film has an outstanding soundtrack, in addition to being pretty sharp in a Grade-B Woody Allen kind of way: Saul Rubinek is a sad sack looking for his dream girl. He actually goes to a police sketch artist to get a picture of her. Eventually, he meets her, as played by the charming Marcia Strassman from Welcome Back, Kotter. It's extremely hard to see because I don't think that it's ever had a DVD release.

I´ve been thinking about Soup for One, a tape goes for 6 euros here. Seems to have pretty nice soundtrack also.
