Hey not sure if this was addressed here before but I'm new here and I'm looking for a movie where various groups of people go racing for money similar to rat race. Its not "a mad.... mad world" or cannonball run. There was a nerdy skinny guy, a fat guy but I don't remember anyone else.

Definitely "Midnight Madness". The nerdy skinny guy was Eddie Deezen who you might remember from "Grease" and the not so thin guy was Stephen Furst best known from "Animal House".
Actually, this movie was one of Michael J. Fox's early film roles as well.
