What is wrong with Hollywood? Did they all wake up, look into their 80's movie collection and decide that EVERY 80's movie needed to be redone?!
First a sequel to Wall Street and now a remake of Footloose; starring Zac Ephron no less. Can't they leave well enough alone?

I'm 100% with you on this one buddy. I'm not too against sequels and continuing on with our favourite movies, but doing them all over again, when they were already brilliant??? Why??

I totally agree too. I just want them to re release the originals again.
They are remaking EVERYTHING. I have never watched any of those High School Musical movies-I don't even understand what they are about or anything...but if that is the only thing original that people can come up with today...then this explains all the remakes.

Whoever is doing the casting for a remake of Footloose should be totally hobbled Kathy Bates style.
Zac Effron is in NOOOOO way!!!! Someone to fill the shoes (pun intended) of Kevin Bacon!
That's like replacing The Brat Pack to me at least. No one should ever replace iconic people from 80's movies with someone from a cheesy Disney trilogy.

That is interesting....if they hobble them, then they really would have a "Foot Loose".
Maybe Hollywood is going about this sequel stuff the wrong way.....Maybe FootLoose 2 should have been the sequel to Misery.

While not all sequels are bad, it would be pointless and irrelevant to re-release the originals. Hollywood is all about turning a profit and the new genre of actors/actresses would turn alot higher profit than something 20+ years old especially with the many DVD and watch it now options available......

I honestly believe that alot of movies would hold up in the theaters now...I would love to see Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, or even The Terminator in a theater-I never saw any of them in the 80's on the big screen....it would be awesome, Tim Cappello said that movie theater he goes to, is packed every time. I believe that movies like...The Goonies and Gremlins, are timeless, and they could rerelease those around the holidays and parents that are my age could actually have a fun thing to take their kids to see.
I am going to join the Big Brother/Big Sister program again...I did it once when I was 20, and now my little sister is 30, and now more than ever they need volunteers...I use to take my Little sister to the movies all the time.. We saw "Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and Turner and Hooch and lots of others, and that was in the late 80s....but now I have no idea what kids movie I'd go see. My kid is almost 16...I want to get a little sister who's around 8 years old...what movie would I take her to see?
They should still be releasing all the Disney classics.
I remember when they released the E.T. special anniversary edition....I loved seeing that at the movies...I didn't like the added scenes, but it was packed at the movies when we went and we took my son's friend who had never seen it. Alot of kids have never seen "Lucas", and "License to Drive"- and they can relate to that stuff. I know it isn't going to happen, but I can dream about it.

Wasn't the Ring remade 4 years after it's first release? The original is from 1998. There's another version I think is from 2002. I think that is too early to do a remake, even if the movies are made and released by different people.
I'm not sure, but I've heard there is a remake of a movie that came out last year or something. I mean... What!? I hope I'm wrong about that. Maybe it is just a sequel . . .

I'm not sure about The Ring but I'm pretty positive that the Incredible Hulk that just came out isn't a sequel to the one from a few years ago that had Jennifer Connley in it.
Yeah, IF you're going to do a remake I think it should be at least 10 years after the original comes out. At least.

They should still let Lou Ferrigno be the Hulk.

i'm not thrilled about the constant remakes in hollywood, myself. but would i see a footloose remake? yes - because, my daughter is a fan of efron, (as most young girls are) and i have grown to like him. i thought he did a good job in hairspray. it's something my daughter will want to see anyway, so i am sure i will end up watching it as well.

The original Ring I believe was a Japanese release where the remake was in english.
The Incredible Hulk was remade because Marvel Comics was very disappointed in the first movie and they decided to retake the name over and make things right.

Hmm ok recently I saw the preview for the new Friday the 13th remake and it showed Jason going for the kill....last time I checked, Jason wasn't in the first movie. So how can this be a remake if it doesn't even loosely follow the classic plot?

maybe the new Friday the 13th will be kind of like the Rob Zombie thing with Halloween and have a Totally different ending from the original and just be based slightly off the original. I don't know though, I haven't seen the previews, but I'll most definately watch it.

I think they are remaking the movie to have the same premise...Jason is the killer...and he kills teenagers at a camp. There isn't a whole lot of plot in that movie. I don't know past number 4 if they actually connected the storyline/people together. But...does it even matter?

I don't think it does when it comes to remakes. Look at The Hills Have Eyes for example, the original it was just inbred mountain people and in the remake it was mutated people from atomic testing. That seemed to change it quite a bit.

Honestly... I think they just want to capitalize on a franchise ...and they want to use the name....that's why they call it something people recognize. Otherwise...they could have a new killer with a football helmet on his head ..instead of a hockey mask...and have him called "BOB"...but would it get as much attention?

I liked Losst Boys 2, yeah. But nothing can compare to Keifer (even another Sutherland in the sequel) as David. Seriously whenever I watch The Lost Boys I either cry or pretty much cry when he dies.
There's also the War Games sequel which came out the same day as Lost Boys 2 which was pretty good. I just wish that hollywood could be original again, instead of remakes and movies based off of books and "true events"

Lost Boys 2 was okay but apparently there was a small comic book series after the first movie. so the new movie takes place after the comics but they don't bother to explain what happened in the comics. So It's a little confusing.

Agreed but they will remake it, even if nowadays they luck that point that they were making 20 something years ago...
