I was just curious if you guys have an estimate of how many active members are on this website? I enjoy posting here and have always wondered how many of us are actually viewing and posting.
Thanks, GG

I've only been here since May, but from what I see, there are only about 20 members who post on a regular basis. Others pop up once in a while. Who knows how many just hang around and read the posts. I do know that some come here just to find the name of a movie and then POOF, they're gone forever.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster these days.

Yeah I go in phases. Sometimes I just read here and there and others I post a few times a week. I think this is by far the best 80's site out there. I'm looking forward to doing my first movie review. Should be fun.

I'm a lurker too. I have to be really inspired to make a post

I hate that

I'm thinking that if you look across all the topics there are 30 to 40 semi-regular posters on The Rewind. I can't put a definitive number on the amount of folks that read but seldom post, but my guess is about another hundred or so.
Here's a list of Rewinders that I can think of that post:
Nick Paul Devo Isis Jessie Sam NowhereGirl TKO Riptide Ali_with_an_i cindymancini Muffy Tepperman Kash 80'sRocked pettyfan mamamiasweetpeaches Stitch Groover jdocster MotleyRulz Noms logan5 StevenHW AdventuresInGooniesitting Mane1980 Chris the CandyFanMan deathbystereo80 aTomiK records1black hewzy kevdugp73 JAYLEE xchazx bandit Helen_S Missie joker BabyLove19781999 Aruba4me halekido Kinick gordongecko oh and of course...myself
That was just random and I'm sure I left a few people off, so please add yourself or friends to it if you post. I was just trying to give everyone an idea that there is a lot more people here than it first appears.
Posted by gordongecko (Member # 4685) on :
Yeah, I guess if you put them down on paper there are a lot more than it seems. Thanks for puting that list up valley. That's pretty cool. Well here's to more and more people continuing to post on here.
If you do come across this and post here or just drop by to read a bit, drop a line.

Good job Valley. I guess I was off by 10 or 20. But who's counting? Oh, we are. Haha.
Nothing wrong with a little "lurking" either. It's more fun when you're in stealth mode.

Yessss....I made the list. I'm a huge fan of the 80's and of the site. I visit at least once a day, and mostly read the posts and responses. I've posted a number of times, but sometimes feel like the 80's rewind reject....only because I love the 80's movies so much, but don't seem to know too much about some of the more obscure movies often talked about on here.....although, on the other hand...a great way to learn about them. I'm nearing almost (200) 80's movies on DVD and keep buying based on some of the movies discussed and talked about here. I enjoy reading and learning from the posts of the regulars, and always wonder....who are you people!? Anyone willing to share the basics? I'm Kevin...35 years old....married....2 year old son...live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Cheers!

Hey Kev, go to the Rewind Social Club and check out the earlier threads. There are at least 2 threads where rewiders tell a little about themselves. Not all do, but a good amount have.

i love the 80's and this board. i'm glad i found it. i actually stumbled across this board a few years ago but i didn't know there was a messageboard.
i have completely turned into the kind of guy i laughed at as a kid who would tell me how great the 60's were and what i missed, except i just substitue the 80's. but, it's true. better movies and better music anyway.
i just hope my music snobbery doesn't rub anyone the wrong way.

I really love the way Rewind has picked up during the summer. A lot of new blood and new topics. I was in a tailspin a bit the past few years, in some ways I had to get my 80's fixes elsewhere, but IMO Rewind is back to what it used to be like(applause to all).
And kevdugp73, real nice to see another Maritimer on this site, I was just there on vacation for a few weeks, I'm back in Montreal, but I grew up in the 80's in a small Nova Scotian town, and am the same age.
And xchazx keep up with the musical input, your tastes are pretty similar to mine, soometimes they feel like they are all over the map much like myself. I remember I used to have arguments with people as to how it was possible to be a Social Distortion/TSOL and Madonna fan at the same time. Got some ribbing on that one.

It shouldn't. You are quite knowledgable in the music arts as far as I can see. Most people on this site are. It's cool how so many people like such a variety of different music and styles. I personally love bits of every kind of music out there, from Air Supply to Zebrahead and everything in between. From rock, classic rock, every form of metal, pop, oldies, some rap, classical, easy listening, punk, disco, and more. The only thing that bothers me is when people post "that sucks or this sucks," in ANY thread. Hey, what sucks for one person could be someone elses favorite. If I don't like something, I will either say "that's not my style" or just not respond to that thread. Anyway, I am glad I stumbled upon this site by accident. It is one of the best out there.

Thanks 80'sRocked....didn't see that for some reason and will definitely check it out. And cheers Riptide....small world.

You know I have to say that I too have learned a lot from this site. I have found many movies that I would have never watched if it weren't for the posters out there. Everyone is always very curtious even if you feel like you are asking a stupid question, or asking about a movie that "everyone has seen." I was born in 1980 so some of the movies I had seen back then I don't remember as well. There are also tons of them I have not seen yet. I have followed many posts and keep finding more and more gems out there. The best is when I start watching a movie and then it comes to me, hey I saw this a long time ago but barely remember it. So sorry for being long winded but I really enjoy this site and thanks to all the good people on here.

This truly is a great little community isn't it? I was absent for two weeks and I missed it!
You folks are great...
p.s. nick's ok too...

Yeah, Nick is ok-ish, I guess, hehe

I come on here pretty much every day. I turn on my computer, check my email and then head over here to see whats going on. Its funny , its almost like a "visiting your neighbors" type thing: If someone is missing for a few days I'll notice! (And God forbid someone goes amiss for weeks, months or years...its like we feel like sending out a Rescue Team!)

I come through and browse probably four times a week. I don't know a whole lot about 80's movies, but I am slowly learning. But my few fave movies are from the 80's. I will slowly but surely post more. Takes me awhile to warm up!

You guys...
I've learnt a lot too. I love it when someone mentions a forgotten classic and (Like everyone else probably does) I look it up and end up buying some great forgotten classic that I end up loving

You know, it's pretty cool that there are still some movies we've not seen yet. Then, when they release our old favorites, if we're luck, we get some "extras" like behind the scenes or the making of etc...
Long live the 80s!
