Every trip to my movie store brings new surprises. I see there's some new Bachelor Party movie, 22 years after the fact, I hear there is a movie coming out called Spring Break 83, a new 90120 series, and news that Virginia Madsen's production company is trying to remake Electic Dreams. I also see a bunch of new Porky's- wannabee covers, there is this ne called Pigs( wish I had the image), it looks like circa 84 Hot Moves or something.

I ordered UNDERDOG off eBay for my nephew and someone sent me PIGS in an UNDERDOG case by mistake.
Fellas- this is NO PORKYS. It is a Teen Sex Comedy where NO ONE GETS NUDE!!!!! I dont know what the Hell they were thinkin! Who would rent/ buy a T&A flick where no one shows...ummmm....T or A!!!!!

I watched the previews last night...when I watched that movie "The Flock"....and they did a preview for "The Mist". It was from 2007 and I never even saw it previewed at the theaters?
Has anyone seen it? That's a remake. The new one stars Andre Braugher and Marcia Gaye Hardin..
They already redid The Fog-and I don't think it did good.
I saw that Angelia Jolie just got done filming "The Changeling" - that's another remake.
The new one is directed by Clint Eastwood.

The Mist wasn't a remake it was based off of one of Stephen King's stories he wrote in 1980. It has the honor of having one of the most depressing endings of all time IMO...........

Oh...then that's why I thought it was a remake....my mom saw the preview and she seemed to know it was going to be called "The Mist"...before they said the name of it...but that's because she had read the book.
"The Mist" looked creepy...has anyone seen it? Was it playing at the movies...or was it a straight to DVD thing?
I won't watch "The Fog"-I love the original...I love Andrianne Barbeau in that movie as "Stevie Wayne"...and Jamie Leigh Curtis and Janet Leigh were in it together...that was so cool.
Did anyone know that John Carpenter likes to use the real life names of people he knows as character names in his movies, and that Tom Atkins character in "The Fog"...his name is Nick Castle, and the real Nick Castle was who played the original Michael Meyers in Halloween...and the real Nick Castle directed "Skatetown USA".

The Mist was a major studio release. I believe it was considered a disappointment at the box office.

I finally watched Lost Boys: the Tribe tonight, I didn't have many expectations, but it was better than I anticipated. Feldman acted like he never left.

I expected much from 'The Mist', but thought it was rather disappointing. The character of Marcia Gay Harden ruined the entire movie for me.
The end was very depressing indeed.

the mist was alright. i liked the ending. if it wasn't for the ending, i probably wouldn't have liked it as much.
i also just read that my future wife(once i get divorced), natalie portman, is going to star in a remake of the movie Suspiria. i'm 100% against remakes of movies that were already good to begin with, so i think i may have to skip this one.
out of all the remakes that have been released in the past years, i've only watched "dawn of the dead" and "halloween" and i was disappointed in both.
on an unrelated topic, i can't wait for the new 90210 series. the original is one of my favorite shows of all time(please don't get me started on the horrible way they ended the show) and i watched every episode during its 10 season run. i'm glad they are bringing Nat back as a regular and they are giving cameo's to brenda and kelly. i hope others come back for some cameos too.

Fog was terrible! I enjoyed Halloween, I thought it was very disturbing. I like remakes because it brings the original back in to the light.

are they going to do a remake of Conan the Barbarian or will it be a sequel? if it is a remake I don't think they can do beat the soundtrack of the original one and that was half of the movie

Suspiria was one of the few movies...I had to stop...and could not watch...because it was so disturbing to me....I can't even remember what it was really about...I vaguely remember anything...except someone stabbed a woman in the heart ....and it was so gross and graphic....I had to stop watching it.

Hollywood has been on overdrive the past 5-10 years remaking practically every major horror title from the '70s and '80s. It's gotten beyond ridiculous. Just off the top of my head you have:

i think it's time for me to go on a kill crazy rampage.
even though i'm against remakes(especially of great movies), i could see Hellraiser being done again. not that i think they could do it better(and no one will ever be better than doug bradley) but some of the effects in that movie are dated and don't hold up well.
how could they remake The Stepfather better than the original??? or Near Dark??? or any movie on this list. these kinds of remakes bum me out.

This period will be looked back on as one of the worst and most forgetable times in film history!
There are still occasional bright spots, but they are few and far between.

I couldn't agree more...how on Earth could they possibly redo The Birds better than Alfred Hitchc0ck?
I loved Terry O'Quinn and Jill Schoelen in The Stepfather....there's no way they can redo that.
I have said it a billion times...just replay the originals...how many people out there have probably even seen the originals of these movies? Besides all of us?

That didn't stop them from remaking Psycho, Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, Rebecca and The Lodger in recent years.

I couldn't agree more. The whole purpose of a remake is to improve upon the original. There's no way to improve upon movies like Psycho, Halloween or A Nightmare on Elm Street - they were done perfectly the first time. A great remake is something like John Carpenter's version of The Thing. The original was an otherwise forgotten 50's Sci-Fi thriller that had a great premise, but many flaws with its execution. Carpenter added tension, atmosphere, and stronger characters and pacing to the storyline and supped-up the production value and effects. Essentially he took everything that was great about the original and improved upon everything that wasn't. That's how you do a remake. You don't start with a film that was already expertly executed and that's universally considered to be a classic.
