I love this movie. I think it is a great summer time movie. I am in the mood to watch it soon. This is one of those movies that doesn't get talked about much on here...but it is so classic 80's...and just about every line in the movie is something to quote.
I was never a big fan of this movie. I always felt that it was overrated. I felt that there were a couple classic great scenes but the movie as a whole just didn't hold up to well for me.
It was definitely the movie that made Tom Cruise a star so maybe that now in hindsight is another strike against the movie

Devolution here,
Even though I think that overall this is a very good movie, I can't stand "old time rock and roll". I gained true appreciation for Rebecca DeMornay and Curtis Armstrong was really good Pre-Revenge of the Nerds.
For me, the movie is only a weak 7, mostly because of the train scene.

Can you believe its been 25 years since "Risky Business" was released. This is not my fav TC movie, but whenever I hear "In the Air Tonight" this movie pops in my head. I really liked the first person camera work in the beginning when Joel takes parents to the airport.
The dream is always the same, Joel get off the babysitter because you have a trig midterm tomorrow, and sometimes you just have to say wtf and make your move.
Sincerely,
Guido the Killer Pimp

It's a classic, no argument here. There's so many good scenes. This where the Tom Cruise of Taps, Losing it and All the Right Moves really started his ascent to superstardom. Also always loved the Tangerin Dream sndtrck. score. There needs to be a special edition DVD of this by now.

Plus this movie had a great cast of characters...
Tom Cruise Rebecca De Mornay Joe Pantoliano (Joey Pants) - As Guido Curtis Armstrong (Booger) Bronson Pinchot Richard Masur - As the college recruiter
Who remembers this quote?
"Porsche. There is no substitute. "

My favorite quote.....is after the Porsche falls in the water...and they are at the car shop...sitting there...and Curtis Armstrong says:
"Does your father own a gun?"

I agree, I love this movie, could do without the Bob Segar bit and find the train scene to be one of the hottest sequences ever on film!!
I'll give this like an 8.25 just on the soundtrack alone...Tangerine Dream rocks!!!

Riptide, Risky goes Blu in September. No word on special features, but the fact it will be in HD is enough for me.

i love this movie. i remember how just getting to watch this movie was tough since i wasn't 17 at the time. we actually had a local movie theater that wouldn't let underage kids in to see r rated movies(my worst experience was trying to get in with my friend to see "where the boys are '84" and them telling us we couldnt so we had to sit through "hard to hold" instead). can you believe that.
i finally got a round to seeing it on vhs and i thought it was the coolest movie. i've seen it a few times since then and i still love it.
