Saw this question asked over on IMdB on The Breakfast Club board. This was the date given at the beginning of the movie as the day that the movie happened.
Where were you on March 24, 1984 when The Princess, Jock, Criminal, Brain and Basket Case were serving detention?
Now I'm going to assume that the day was indeed a Saturday like the movie says. This would have been my freshmen year in college at ****inson State(ND) so either i would have been staying the weekend in the dorm or I was home in Mandan, ND for a couple days with my parents.
anybody else have any idea where they were that fateful day?

I know exactly where I was on that date. I was in the hospital with a lung infection because I was on the track team and had been running in the cold and rain and I got really sick...I was in my sophmore year in high school, and I ended up missing 4 months of school at the end of the year, because I got so sick....I ended up being in the hospital during that time period, to under go a bunch of tests...it was no fun...I would have gladly taken high school detention over what I went through.
Has anyone ever been in real detention in school?
My cousin always was ...because she was late every day for school.
I remember the only time I ever got in trouble in school, was on Senior Skip day...which was a day everyone randomly picked to skip school.
My friend and her boyfriend and a guy friend of mine who was a sophmore decided we were going to skip too and I asked my mom for permission, and she said ok...but when the truant officer called my house...they said if my mom didn't lie and told the truth that I skipped, then I wouldn't get in trouble...so she told them I had...and they lied to her and gave me detention, so she got made at them and went to the school and told them she never would have reported me if they hadn't lied to her and said I wouldn't get in trouble....so I only spent 1 day in detention.

I was probably hanging out with some friends. HS graduation was 3 short months away...

I used to get detentions all of the time. I got a couple of "In school" detentions where you spend all day in detention. I also got an "out of school" detention where you are kicked out of school for a period of time.
Ahhhhh, the good old days...

That is too weird... In 1984 I got pneumonia and missed 2 months of school. It was definitely during the second half of the school year, so it may have been during that exact date too. Strange?

I was in the 8th grade at Olympic Jr High in Auburn, WA. I have no idea what I was doing on that Saturday, but I can guarantee that I slept in that morning, as I was up all night watching "Friday Night Videos".

80sRocked-That is pretty strange....sounds like we lived the same life in the 80's.

I was in the first grade at that time, and if it was indeed a saturday, I was probably watching saturday morning cartoons with my sister in our jammie's. And later would have been out playing with my friends!

At just over 2 years old at the time, it seems likely I would have napped much of the time they were there, or otherwise plopped in front of the TV watching Fraggle Rock. As you might expect, though, my memory, while normally great, doesn't go that back that far clearly.

I remember my sister going to see this movie the Wednesday it came out. Back in the days movies would open on Wednesday vs. Fridays. This is one of the best movies from the 80s.
