As always, I don't remember much about the movie..lol.. What I do remember is there was the scientist (or maybe just a really smart person) who figured out a way to make ice (or maybe fresh water) in the middle of the jungle with some sort of invention. I believe he was there trying to help the natives. I believe there was someone of more power wanting to destroy the forest (or the people) for some reason.
