This movie is on AMC right now and I have not seen it. I'm pretty excited about it. Seems classic so far.

RED DAWN is an awesome example of 80's film making. It has all the staples we love from this era (except the montage scene). The premise is really cool and the actor's give it their best. The only thing is watching it now doesn't have the same impact as it did back then during the Cold War. At the time, this movie was sort of scary to a young kid...the same with the terrifying TV movie THE DAY AFTER.

If I'm not mistaken, this was one of the first films to get a PG-13 rating, perhaps even the first?

Well I really enjoyed the movie. Had a great 80's feel to it. Thanks again to all you people out there, this is another movie that I would never have seen if it was not for this site. Thanks!

Great Flick...remember back when you could stock a movie with teenagers and still wind up with a movie that is decently acted?
Try that crap today......good luck, today looks are more important than talent...and "being comfortable in front of a camera" has replaced "being able to act".
When the Russians start shooting up the school and that kid is left hanging out the window with a bullet through his head, that was one of those "WOAH MAN!" moments from my youth
Great supporting cast too...Harry Dean Stanton, Powers Boothe...

I think it was. It was more violent than most PG-rated movies, but didn't quite qualify for an R-rating.

As far as I know, "Indiana Jones" prompted the creation of the PG-13 rating and "Red Dawn" and "Gremlins" were two of the first recipients...

One of my all time faves. Love it. I watched for the first time on a t.v. in my Great Aunt Sandy's van. I cried that first time. I am know I am a baby, but I am also a girl. It had an impact on me.

The first PG-13 movie. That alone makes it legendary, but the storyline makes it LEGENDARY'!!
