I am trying to remember the title of a movie in which the main character rips his pants in the back and has to get on the subway, the ripped pants becomes a fashion trend. I know this isn't much to go on but it will help to settel a co-workers mind. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the 1981 movie So Fine with Ryan O'Neal.
