Check out the trailers at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373883/ . The remake looks really good. I will definately check it out when it hits the theaters.
Any thoughts on Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween? Do you think it will compare to the original?
Posted by pettyfan (Member # 2260) on :
I watched the trailer on IMDB. I think it looks good.
Posted by Rainbowbrite22 (Member # 2288) on :
it does look really good plus i like how he kept the 70s look to it
Posted by Blake (Member # 75) on :
This does look ok but please hollywood STOP making remakes
Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
Remakes don't bother me. I think it's interesting to see the orginals compared to the remakes. With the differences in technology now. And yes, 9 out of 10 times the orginal is better than the remake.
But this Halloween movie actually looks like it going to be really good. Will it compare to the orig.? We will have to see!!!

Looks a bit rubbish to me, just going by these clips mind:
Remakes never work, although If he makes it his own as RZ has stated he intends to do then it might just stand a chance!
The very fact that John "Hit & Miss" Carpenter as far as I am aware is not involved is a bonus!
The Fog Anybody!
Also what's with all the remakes leave the originals be you cannot better them so why not think of something new!
Saw & its respected sequels I thought where cracking modern day horrors' so more of this and less of that!

Seriously. I've seen quite a few remakes and only a couple have even been on par with the original, most are just cack. I mean they're even remaking sequels now, sheesh.
Posted by Mire Mare (Member # 5900) on :
Ok lets list examples of great original 80's films subsequently tarnished by there crappy modern day remakes!
I a have already said it but the original Fog rocks but the remake really does suck!
Anyone else!

Mire Mare, I totally agree with you about the Fog remake. It was such a disappointment.
I would have to say that TMNT was terrible. It did not compare to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Also, another i would have to say that sucked was the Transformers movie.
These two were big disappointments and didn't compare at all!!!!!!
Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
i also wanted to give an example of a remake that i thought was better than the original:
Dawn of the Dead
The remake definately was awesome. The orginal was slow paced and a little boring at times. I like the fact that the remake had the zombies running. Now, that's scary!!! It's much better than having the zombies walking slow paced. The beginning of the movie was great when the little zombie girl was running towards the bedroom, I was seriously on the edge of my seat. I loved it!!! I'm a big fan of zombie movies and this one definately exceeded my expectations of a remake.

I think remakes are a waste of time, especially when its an already popular movie being remade.Just look at ALFIE with Jude Law...it was awful because it couldnt hold a candle to the original with Sir Michael Of Caine.A pointless remake.Dawn of the Dead was awful too, even Ving Rhames couldnt save it. But where does it end.....? Can you imagine in a few years time some bright spark thinkin lets redo STAR WARS or INDIANA JONES for example. 'cos i bet itll happen,no film seems safe.

You know, I was just on anopther site talking about this with somebody: Why doesnt Rob Zombie use his powers for GOOD instead of EVIL?
he knows a lot about horror movies and I'm sure there are thousands of unsung gems in his personal collection that people have never heard of. He should be re-making lesser-known chestnuts that not many people know about...gaining them long overdue recognition.
Someone on FLIXSTER suggested RZ re-make SPIDER BABY. I think thats a great idea! SPIDER BABY is a creepy little cult classic that has a small core audience. Why not remake it and bring a whole new audience to it? There would be a bunch of teenagers going to see it not even realizing its a re-make! And there would be people who LIKED the original who would go see his take on the film. Well, thats what I think anyway.
I dont think irts ROB ZOMBIE re-making HELLRAISER- but I read something about somneone remaking HELLRAISER. God Save The Queen- WHY WOULD THEY REMAKE HELLRAISER???? That movie is awesome! Just like HALLOWEEN it should be left alone!

Hellraiser, WTF

The Stand!
The Shining!
The Hills have Eyes!
Psycho!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre!
Salem's Lot!
For god sake stop have we really ran out of great ideas!
Next you will be telling me they are going to remake The Exorcist, after all they have tried to squeeze every piece of commercial goodness out of it, I mean what was with those prequels!
The Exorcist and The Exorcist III are truly great leave them alone ya *******s!

Isn't there a rumor that they are remaking the Goonies?
Now, they need to leave that movie alone. That's a classic that needs not touched!
Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :
Not Horror: But I heard they are re-making REVENGE OF THE NERDS and PORKYS too. And I THINK I heard they are re-making FRIDAY THE 13TH (?)
Now, sure: None of these movies are what I consider "High Art"....(well, maybe PORKYS!) but they do not need re-makes!
Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
So, Did anyone see Halloween this weekend? If so what did you think?
I haven't yet but saw that it was #1 at the box office.

i heard something like this a couple of years ago... and howard stern was supposed to be involved in this somehow. i'd watch remakes of these movies before i ever see SUPERBAD again.

I think they stopped with production of the Porky's remake. I think it had something to do with Bob Clark's death, but don't quote me on that one.
Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
Porky's is the best. I remember the first time i saw it was on USA Up All Night.
I hope they don't try to remake this one.
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
Michael Bay's name has been tied to the Friday the 13th remake so you can almost guarantee it's gonna suck horribly....
Posted by Chris the CandyFanMan (Member # 3197) on :
Great, now Jason'll probably blow his victims up afterwards just to be sure, then blow up with Hiroshima force himself at the end.
Posted by mamamiasweetpeaches (Member # 1715) on :
Totally dont even know who Michael Bay is. Hahaha! But see- that just proves my point- If It Aint Broke Dont Fix It! So many BAD movies they coudl reimagine, why not leave the classics alone?!
Who saw SUPERBAD? Was it super bad? I heard it was funny. If anything that looks like a throwback (and I mean that in a good way) to the kind of movies we liked in the 80s (PORKYS, LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN)
A lot of people are bashing the new HALLOWEEN. Havent seen it myself, refuse to...but you can see the reviews at www.rottentomatoes.com Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
I haven't seen SuperBad either. But i heard it was funny. Didn't the person that directed Knocked up direct SuperBad. I thought Knocked Up was funny.
I think I am going to see the new Halloween this weekend.
We still have drive In's where i live and it is playing there with another movie. It's nice because you get to see two new releases for the price of one. Plus there is something about the drive in. It's really fun to watch movies outside. And you could always bring alcohol which makes it even more fun. So I think I'm going to see the new Halloween this weekend.

I did see Halloween and I am a Halloween fan and I have to say I liked it. I liked this movie because it stayed pretty true to the old Halloween movies. It had that feel about it. Now Rob really cranked up the brutality in this movie but I have to say that it was far more intense then any of the old ones. He did add his little twists but it's really cool that this movie filled in all the holes from the first one. Go in with an open mind and I really think you will be happy. It renewed my joy for the Halloween collection.
Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
Gordongecko thanks!!
I'm hoping to see it soon!!!
Posted by gordongecko (Member # 4685) on :
Has anyone else seen this movie?
Posted by NowhereGirl (Member # 465) on :
i finally saw it last week, and i agree with gordongecko. not bad, not bad....if anything, it was definitely better than halloween resurrection.
the mask looked great. and the kid who played young michael was great...and creepy at the same time?
zombie did alright!
Posted by Mire Mare (Member # 5900) on :
Now if only RZ would consider remaking THE SOUND OF MUSIC!
Who wouldn't pay good money to go and see that bad boy!
MM
Posted by Rainbowbrite22 (Member # 2288) on :
i saw it and ithought it was really good it had a different type of creepy effect
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
The remake creeped me out more than the original. Was it me or was Micheal Myers alot bigger in this one? The dude could go in the NBA draft if his movie career doesn't pan out! I've actually saw some decent remakes over the years but now refuse to watch anything new Michael Bay has a hand in after he destroyed Transformers....

Glad to hear many of you liked the new Halloween.

oh my!!
I just heard Michael Bay is remaking "Friday the 13th"
Guys....seriously this needs to end with all these remakes...
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
I keep an open mind with remakes but Bay is attached to it so I dunno........
Posted by pearwater (Member # 6093) on :
Rob Zombie's Halloween was, in my opinion, rubbish. some interesting ideas were there but humanising Mikey boy wasn't the right thing to do..Malcolm Mcdowell looks like he wishes he was in another movie most of the time, and do we really need a full-frontal scene? I'll stick to the original tyvm.
Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
I just also found out they are doing another Lost Boys movie. It's not a remake though. It's going to be called "Lost Boys: The Tribe".
Posted by MotleyRulz (Member # 3598) on :
Haim wasn't in it.....
Posted by just one of the girls (Member # 5766) on :
Yeah, I also heard that Haim isn't in it but I'm pretty sure Feldman is

I did hear they were going to make another Indiana Jones, not a remake, just another sequel with Harrison Ford, you know, before he gets TOO old. Also, I heard they were going to remake Evil Dead, though Sam Raimi will not be involved...umm that is going to suck.
Posted by evilash (Member # 6155) on :
okay, according to imdb.com, Evil Dead (2009) is in pre production. Sam Raimi is the screenwriter but he is looking a director. According to the plot synopsis, it is the exact same story line. But at the same time it says that the script is not written yet. I don't know how I feel about this. I mean, possibly no Bruce Campbell. He is too old to play a college student, but maybe he can be a demon or something? And they are probably going to CG the hell out of it, so no cheesy claymation! That was part of the charm! It might be good, especially if they leave Paul Walker out of it.
Posted by evilash (Member # 6155) on :
Pearwater: Didn't they have a full frontal scene in the original? I know we saw some. Full frontal is just another thing we see in RZ's movies... most of it being a naked corpse. Do we need it, no, do they do it in movies anyways? Yeah, and the world is just going to put more in it. Especially since RZ's target audience is males ages 15-35.
Posted by pearwater (Member # 6093) on :
It's just a boob shot,Evilash..P.J.Soles if I remember correctly? Mind you, I didn't mind looking at them at the time:)
