OK, this movie is from either the late 80's or early 90's. It took place in New York, maybe Manhattan. It had to do with a young kid in school, could be private school, and a few kids always bullied him, took his money, gave him the toilet swirls, etc., because he was a rich kid. One day he bumped into a poor, very grown for his age kid (looked like he was in his early 20's). Not sure if he went to school with him or not, but he rode a motorcycle. The rich kid told the "bodyguard" that he will pay him every week, if he protected him. Eventually they started hanging out together, became real good friends, etc.
I think the movie started out with the "bodyguard" fighting in an alley, this is how the rich kid came across and found his "new" friend.
And I think the climax was that the "bodyguard" had to fight a bigger guy which the "bullies" got to fight for them. An older brother or something, but he looked way older than the "bodyguard" and was bald. If i remember correctly the bodyguard lost and the bald guy threw his bike in the lake. This is where the conflict in the relationship was between the rich kid and his bodyguard.
That is all i pretty much know, I can picture the "bodyguard's" face but he wasn't really a big actor back then.
For a while I thought the "rich" kid was a young gabriel jarret,from "Real Genius", that's what i pictured, but I guess not, because i checked his movie discography.

Absolutely right Sonz. I love My Bodyguard, it's a great film.

It's not one of those films that has that retro '80's cool' thing about it (mainly because it was released in 1980 which makes it feel more like a 70's film), but it's a film with 'heart' that stands up really well today. It's got great music too.
