I'm looking for a name of a movie that began in a scene that goes something like this: A scientist's family pulls out of the driveway as a police chase occur on the other side of the street. As the family's car drive backwards and the husband saying goodbye and walks back home, the criminals' car hits a curve or something and flips into the air and lands on top of the family car and both burst into flames. After that somehow someone comes back in time and says the scientist needs to come with him in order to "make things right". As the movie ends this person makes his family live by altering the event. I think the husband might have played in Dallas or something similiar. Anybody Knows the name of this movie? Thanks.

I think you're referring to the great 1992 tv movie with Jeff Daniels, "Grand Tour: Disaster in Time" aka "Timescape"
