Cindymanicni sent me this movie to watch, and I am planning to watch it at 10pm tonight. I had never even heard of it, but the write up about it sounds pretty "steamy"....my husband decided it sounded like an 80's movie that he might actual be interested in.
I looked it up on imdb, and was shocked to see the list of the cast...Burl Ives, and Louise Fletcher...but the person I thought was cool to see...is Kristy McNichol...so now I really wanna see it. I don't know much about Sherilyn Fenn-except she was in Just one of the Guys. The guy in it, I recognized him as the bad guy in Kindergarten Cop.
I wondered what anyone else thought of it??

I couldn't take it. Sorry Cindy...I shut it off. The best thing about it was the Homes of the rich people. I got to where Kristy McNichol comes along, and my total image of her was completely shattered...and I thought it must be some weird deja vu thing- cause we were talking on here on the other thread about the 2 women thing...I got to where Kristy and Sherilyn traded shirts in the public bathroom...and that was enough for me.
The guy totally grossed me out, I don't like men who have longer hair than I do, and him walking around with no shirt on...he looked like he hadn't washed his hair in about a month, and I thought he was gross looking...as in...not even slightly attractive.
My husband decided it stunk right when the guy is in her shower...after having spoken to her a whole 2 seconds at the carnival...my husband said "yeah, right...you'd go to some strangers house and get in their shower." I was thinking that was all some fantasy she was having, but it was real, and then I thought the same thing.
Tattoo from Fantasy Island is in it. I could see there was going to be some other back story happening with Louise Fletcher (who I think was her grandma)...and her calling up the sheriff-who was Burl Ives-which I recognized his voice as the Snowman in all the Ruldolph Christmas specials.
Dabbs Greer who played Reverand Alden for years on Little House on the Prairie is the owner of the Carnival, and he was cursing up a storm, I thought...darn, my imagine of him was crushed then too. I never saw a movie ever that Kristy McNichol did nudity in it, icky.
The only thing I liked was I love movies where people are really wealthy and I like looking at their homes, and her house had the coolest sunroom in it...I loved the furniture and all the plants, and I loved the yellow house, and all the flowers in it. But, I couldn't hang in there for the decorating...cause all I kept thinking was how gross the guy was, and I wouldn't let him touch me with a 10 foot pole, and I thought what a dummy she was.

My take on it was that she was a spoiled rich girl who decided to check out the other side of the tracks. Before she got married and had kids she wanted to experience what life would be like without having to live up to anyone's expectations and just live for the moment.
Also I don't think it was about his looks as much as he had an attitude about him that he didn't care what people thought about him, while her life revolved around what people thought about her. I thought it was a very good movie with strong character development.
Of course I could be wrong and it's just an excuse to watch Sherilyn Fenn get completely naked.

To me the worst part of the film was Sherilyn Finn as a blonde. There is something about Richard Tyson that was appealing in that film, he has what you would call "RAW SEX APPEAL". He isn't a very attractive guy but with his voice and actions he sure is sexy.
