On Saturday night I watched the 1962 classic To Kill a Mockingbird it was very good and was the performance that gave Gregory Peck his Oscar for best actor. It was also the first movie for Robert Duvall who would eventually get an Oscar for best actor also. Highly recommend this movie and I'm going to look at reading the novel as well.

I just wrote on the 90's thread that we just got done watching The Day after Tomorrow, and I didn't mind it. Last night I watched Hide and Seek, it is on about every single night on a movie channel, and then after that, I started watching 9 to 5...but fell asleep half way through it.

I watched "BoyZ in the Hood" last night. It was on a movie channel, I hadn't seen it for along time, cause it is so sad to me. That movie was made at least 10 years ago, and to me it doesn't seem like society is any better, infact it seems like all that kind of life style just keeps creeping it's way in to more and more of the world, which is scary. That movie I thought was a huge wake up call, but nothing seemed to get done by it.
They glamorize being a gangster today. I see people at Wal-Mart...men with those jeans hanging off their butts, (which to me is the dumbest look I have ever seen in my life, it looks like you have no butt and that you crapped your pants-ha)-I don't find it to be a flattering look for anybody...and they have a white tank top on, in the middle of winter, and and their head shaved bald. I think..MORON.
At least gangsters from 10-20 years ago dressed so much better.

Sammy, youwill finish the book in no time. The movie was excellent too- I remember watching as a child. I also did some quotes from the book for a public speaking class I had in college.
The last two movies I watched on Sat. were Undertow, and indie starring Dermot Mulroney and Josh Lucas, and A History Of Violence, starring Viggo Mortensen. Wow, three hot guys in one night, ha,ha! Anyhoo, I liked both movies. Undertow was a little slow in parts, but I find that in just about every indie movie I've ever watched. A History of Violence, is, well, let's just say it's violent! I did find it to be believable though, with the Irish Mafia coming back to claim one of their own. I really liked it, and may consider purchasing it soon.

The last few days I've watched both Full Metal Jacket and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest a couple times each. Both totally incredible movies.
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest just might have the best cast I've ever seen in a movie. Maybe not so much for the actors but for the way they played their rolls not a bad performance in the bunch. One movie that I'd recommend to anybody.

Yesterday I watched North Country.
This afternoon I watched the end of Sling Blade-I only ever saw that movie once when it first came out, but my mom says she has seen it a bunch of times, she likes it, I find it to be really disturbing...and I think it gives the impression that murder is ok, if the person deserves it.

no I think what it shows is that some people are willing to make a sacrifice in life to help benefit others. In this case Karl who knew that it was wrong to kill felt that he had to kill Dwight Yoakams character to help the boy and his mother lead a normal life even though he knew that he was going to sacrifice his freedom. To me it shows a good example of putting others well being before your own. It in no way tries to glorify the act of murder.
I think it's a tremendous movie and is one that I proudly own.

I watched The Jagged Edge last night...which I think is a great movie...and I thought Jeff Bridges looked the best he ever has, I love his clothes in the movie.
Then after that I watched Single White Female. I still can't believe how different Jennifer Jason Leigh looks in this movie.

King Kong ....why didn't anyone tell me it lasted 8 hours? The special effects were incredible, but "No Way" factor was too high. Like "No Way" they survived that dinosaur stampede, Like "No Way" you can use a machinegun to shoot giant bugs off someone and not hit the person, like "No Way" you could fit King Kong on that dinky ship...you know the "No Way" Factor.
Btw, I still haven't decided how much I liked it.

We watched Brokeback Mountain earlier tonite. The gay porn parts were rather disturbing to me, but overall I think it was a well-done movie. Did that first porn scene in the tent come from out of nowhere or what? And I had also heard a rumor that Heath Ledger used his licked finger as a lube aid in one scene. Right when the movie came out, someone posted on here who claimed they saw it and said that fact was not true when in fact it was. They must have a saw a different version than me or didn't really watch it. Yuck. LOL.........

I watched Witness last night, I love that movie. I am surrounded by Amish, and it was filmed not far from me. I remember right after that murder happened in real life, I was actually in the Philadelphia train station, it was a little freaky. I didn't want to have to use the bathrooms.

Mane1980, I'm a huge dance movie fan, probably started when my mom took me to see "Saturday Night Fever" as a young boy not realizing she would have to cover my eyes and ears half of the movie. I think she was a bit embarrassed because she thought the movie would be only about disco dancing...needless to say I got educated on few things during that film experience.
But anyway, I try to catch most movies that involve dancing...Breakin', Footloose, Dirty Dancing, Can't Buy Me Love(ha), Beat Street, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Flashdance, and the list goes on. I do my best to keep my dance moves fresh by watching some of the new movies like Save The Last Dance (which I kind of liked) and the not so great Honey and You Got Served. So do you rate Take The Lead worth a watch?

Wallace & Gromit - Curse Of The Were Rabbit. These guys can't go wrong. Loved it.
The Wedding Date. Again, I thought this was really good. It was better than the usual 'modern romantic comedy' movie, probably due to the actors. Debra Messing, Dermot Mulroney and Jack Davenport were very good.
Carry On Cruising. An understated masterpiece. Really funny. I hadn't seen it for a while, but it was on, and so I thought I'd sit and watch. Hee hee hee.....

I watched The Stepfather and Curse 2-the Bite last night...and it is weird when you watch a movie and see someone in it that you didn't realize who they were in the movie(as the actor) .
Like, the other night I watched Meatballs...and I love the cast of Meatballs...but they were hardly in any other movies...the guys that played Spaz and Larry- it says on IMDB they were in 3 movies together...and one was Happy Birthday to Me- which I knew the guy that played Hardware in Meatballs was in Happy Birthday to Me, but I didn't know the other 2 guys were. Anyway...the girl that plays "Jackie" in Meatballs...it said on IMDB that she was in The Stepfather...well I have seen that movie a billion times, and didn't remember her, well it took me awhile to figure it out, but she plays the wife and mother in this family that he shows a house to...he's outside pushing the little girl on the swing while the parents are looking at the house. Then...I watched Curse 2-I knew I had seen the woman that plays "Flo"...in other stuff...so I looked her up and she's been in lots of stuff...but the one thing that shocked me of who she was...was she played the "Wrong" Sarah Conner in the Terminator, the one that gets killed when she answers the door.
I think that is cool, about seeing a movie again that you have seen before, and noticing things you didn't ..the last 20 times you watched it.

Yeah go watch Take the Lead is worth watching. The Tango is Hot (LOL). There's a scene where Antonio Banderas dances the tango with someone to get the interest of the students on Ballroom Dancing.
I liked it and had a good time.
I tried to catch up on the movies and went to see Just Friends wich I like tough I felt the ending was missing something but it was cool. I also saw Ultraviolet wich didn't like, tough the special effects are way cool, but the movie was weird.

I just watched Where the Truth Lies. It was okay, but I thought it jumped around too much through the first half of the film, between the time periods of 1957 and 1972. It was also a little slow. If you have kids, don't watch it with them- there are a lot of sex scenes and a murder. All in all, I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5. Kevin Bacon and Colin Firth and Alison Lohman were all good.

I thought Election was fantastic! What a messed up movie but sooooo damn funny! Witherspoon was brilliant and Broderick really played his part so well that you couldn't help almost feel bad for the pathetic loser. Did you notice the girl who played Shane in Some Kind of Wonderful was also in this? I love seeing people from some 80's classic pop up in a more recent movie.

I watched Patriot Games last night. I had to preview it for my son...now I know what was in it.
There is one "sex scene" in it...where the girl terrorist takes a guy back to a room....and he's almost naked...nothing but her is covering up places...and she shoots him in the head...oh well...I can edit through that part.
I actually liked that movie better than Clear and Present Danger....it had more about Jack Ryan and his family...I thought Anne Archer looked great in it, and I liked the storyline, especially the ending...when they were having the party for their daughter....and the terrorists get in to their home...that was cool, and I love their house.
Clear and Present Danger was ok, but it was more war stuff...and political conspiracy stuff...and more a guy film...It was complex, and I would have had to watch it a bunch of times to figure out what really was happening...and even then I don't think I would have.

I just watched Collateral....I had seen it once before, but couldn't remember anything about it, except Tom Cruise was a hit man, and Jamie Foxx was the cab driver...it is so violent...I remembered that much, but forgot how really crazy Tom Cruise was, and I was thinking of the ending with the train ride...that this ride he took was alot different than the one he took in Risky Buisness. The montage in GoodFellas set to the keyboard outro of Layla when they're showing all the dead bodies is one of the most powerful scenes in movie history.

Goodfellas= my favorite movie! I love that montage too. I also love when Henry is driving around in his car all coked up and the music is just blaring-I think it's the Rolling Stones (that I'm A Monkey song- don't know the proper title). I always wanted to know- were those helicopters real, or was he just so drugged up that he was imagining them because he was so paranoid? I haven't watched any movies all week cuz I have been so busy with the business and then spent time this weekend going out with friends instead of staying in.

I watched When A Stranger Calls Back, last night on Lifetime. I love the beginning of that movie, cause I love Jill Schoelen in it, but then it gets strange...they never give you an explaination as to who this guy was either, who was the nut in it.

LA Confidential is an excellent movie about bad cops and worse cops in 1950s LA and how they all come together to solve a mass murder at an all night cafe. It stars the always great Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce, Danny DeVito, James Cromwell and the lovely Kim Basinger.

I started watching Tender Mercies last night, my mom likes it, and I couldn't remember much about it, but once I started watching it, I could remember it cause it played constantly during the daytime on HBO in the 80's. It is kind of boring, but that's the kind of movie it really is, it's about life, and it is just about people. and it's not action packed. I noticed the guy from Electric Dreams was in it...Lenny Von Dohlen-he looks really good in Tender Mercies, he's the head of a band. It was weird Ellen Barkin and Wilford Brimley were both in this movie, and they were both in Harry & Son-that I watched yesterday. That was a strange coincidence.

I just watched X2-Xmen United. I wanted to see it the whole way through, cause I walked out of the movie theater with my son 3 years ago, cause it was way too violent for him....it still seemed really violent. They were previewing the new Xmen movie, and they keep talking about them being "killing machines" ...that doesn't sound like what you want a super "hero" to be. I watched About Last Night (Last Night-haha)...
I love those sweater dresses that Demi wears, especially the one she has on at the Christmas party where her boss is trying to put the moves on her....I liked most of her clothes in this movie, but though Elizabeth Perkins Thanksgiving Day dress was hideous.

The Ring Two. Huge disappointment because I enjoyed the first Ring movie so much. They basically took all the cool stuff/rules from the first movie and threw them out the window. Not the least bit scary.

Memoirs of a Geisha and Last Holiday. Memoirs was kinda long, I think they could have eliminated about 30 min., but then I don't know how without leaving out some of the story. And about Last Holiday- I thought it was going to be stupid, because the trailers that were shown on tv when it was released in movie theaters made it look ultimately stupid. But it wasn't a bad romantic comedy. I really enjoyed it.

I just watched the most cheesy movies ever made. You know, the movies that are supposed to be somewhat serious or action based, but are so bad you laugh. I watched "No Retreat No Surrender" and "The Annihilators". If you like your cheese extra sharp, then check out "The Annihilators". You can buy the VHS on amazon for .35 cents. LOL The wardrobe was so generic it was hilarious. A gang member had a muscle shirt that had the word "Muscle" on the front. One guy had a sweat shirt on that had the word "Sweat" on it. One guy had a t-shirt with the word "music" on it. This movie was very, very bad.LOL The main bad guy looked like a Kurt Russel reject.

The Machinist. It was frightening seeing Christian Bale so emaciated. He looked like he just walked out of a concentration camp! Great movie though!

The French Connection. Won 5 Oscars back in 1971 including best picture. Very good movie with Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider. Might have a hard time being made today or might have to be changed to some degree due to all the racial slurs,

The Omen. I give it an 8 outta 10. It lost points because Julia Stiles couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag.
I saw The Machinist at a local theater when it first came out. It's a wonder Christian didn't actually get sick from losing so much weight. He looked awful. And right after this he had to shoot Batman Begins so you know he splurged on some food after The Machinist.......

Me and my son watched Lethal Weapon..I fast forwarded through a couple scenes, but he still thinks it was the best movie he's ever seen. I hadn't watched it from beginning to end for awhile, so I really was excited to watch it. Mel Gibson was pretty darn cool in that movie, he jumped through the air like the bionic man, and ran like him too. I like the scene where the bad guy says "there aren't any real hereos left in the world"...and he busts through the door, and kicks butt. The 80's were the best for good action movies. I like though how it takes place at Christmas and they have the whole family thing going, and how they kind of adopt Riggs as part of their family. I really like that part. That's when Christmas was a great time to go to the movie, when your out of school or have vacation, and people would get together and going to a movie was a great activity to do.

Running Scared with Paul Walker. It was really good, with a few weird twists. I wish he would start to do more movies like this, instead of that Blue Lagoon thing he did last year. I also watched Tully, which was recommended by a friend. If you like indy films, you will probably like this. I really enjoyed it- it's about family and friends and finding love, all with the backdrop of Kansas farm country.

I watched the movie "The Legacy" last night. With Katherine Ross and Sam Elliot, I remember being so freaked out by that movie as a kid, but it wasn't so scary now. I loved the English mansion in it, and the scenery, and Sam Elliott's shower scene- It had a ton of unanswered questions though. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention or something, but it definately confused me.

We started watching the Disney movie "GUS"...I don't remember it at all, but my husband did...it is about football, so I probably missed it as a kid...but it was funny-what I have seen, we stopped it and are going to finish it tomorrow night, cause my son was getting to tired.

Me and a friend just watched Roadhouse.
I don't remember it being as bad as it was, I watched it twice at the movies. I have it on VHS...but every time I have seen it, it has been edited for tv...so I was like WHOA! when I watched it this time....it was bad...there was ALOT of nudity...and then some. I can't believe I don't remember that.
I think Patrick Swayze is probably one of the best dressed guys in any 80's movie in that movie. I love all his clothes. And he looked pretty good without any too...it sure worked for me.
I love the fight scene at the end, where he does alot of spinning and kicking, and jumping through the air, I like that suspenseful sounding music they play durning those scenes.

I started watching Summer School...and got through the beginning that I hadn't seen yet....I love that movie!! I love everyone's clothes. Kristie Alley's clothes were awesome, I like her denim skirt and shirt she has on at the beginning.

The last movie I watched was "No Mans Land" with Charlie Sheen. I re-watched the opening credits a few times after the flick had ended too. Just got done watching The Hitcher, with Rutger Hauer and the excellent C. Thomas Howell.
Wasn't as good as I thought it would be, and not much overt *80s* action (outfits, music etc.) although as a good suspense/mild horror/action piece, it worked well, and was very nicely filmed too.
A shame that the lovely Jennifer Jason Leigh had to end up like that, and, hehe, not much of her sexy body on display this time either sadly.

Silver Streak on TV (Saw it for the first time. Words cannot describe how much sense it made to make Gene Wilder black.). We rented The Matador and Bewitched (the remake), which were both pretty good (I've seen Bewitched before; but I thought it was cute).

I am currently watching Clue. I am going to be cleaning house today and I always like to put on a good 80s flick and listen to it as I work around the house. It is so funny because I have seen so many so many times that I can just picture exactly what is going on scene per scene as I listen to the movie.

We watched The Outsiders fairly recently - I think that was the last film I sat and watched start to finish. The best thing was it was every bit as good as I remember.
I am desperately trying to get hold of a copy of Rumblefish at the moment. I am pretty sure they also did a film of The Was Then This Is Now which was the follow up book to The Outsiders, but it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

The horror remakes have tended to be fairly disappointing on the whole - The Omen wasn't much good either and I seem to remember The Hills Have Eyes actually being scary first time round.
That Was Then... This Is Now is alomst impossible to find. I am hoping that I will run into someone who has it on VHS and I can make a copy of it. I remember seeing it on TV about 12 years ago (for some reason the sequence where they are on the school bus talking sticks in my mind). I want it for completion's sake more than anything else.

watched "V for vendetta" tonight. Takes some getting into, and I can imagine the USA public not wanting to wait but if you are british it is well worth waiting for. A great hero, and a subtle yet devastating storyline. 7.5/10

Inside Man and Brick. Inside Man was good. Brick was too long and drawn out- they should have shortened it by about 45 minutes and the dialogue is hard to follow; it was supposed to be like an old film noir. I think the copy that I rented sucked, cuz when the actors were speaking it sounded kinda mumbled, so I had to watch the whole movie with closed captioning.
