Some of my favorites are:

Don't You - Breakfast Club(end of movie)
Hazy Shade of Winter - Less than Zero(Clay returning home)
If You Leave - Pretty in Pink(Prom scene)
As the World Falls Down - Labyrinth(Ballroom scene)

Does anybody else have any personal favorites?

I love the uses of music/songs all throughout The Lost Boys. The music/songs fit perfectly with each scene...

Best ones are the ones where you can't specifically recall the music - because it's all 'the movie'. If the song stands out as music playing whilst the movie plays, then it's not really doing it's job. That's one of the reasons why I like Some Kind Of Wonderful so much - the music and the soundtrack is great, but it's great because it complements the movie so well, and doesn't overpower it.

Now, if the question was Best Music played in an 80s Movie, then you're looking at:

Devolution here,

I tend to think there are many things that are overlooked.

Hearts on Fire from Rocky IV.
Number One from Real Genius.
Twist and Shout is beyond well placed intentionally in Ferris Buellers.
Wild Sex (in the working class) in Sixteen Candles.
Just Once in The Last American Virgin.

I have to think, there are more.

We are DEVO

Rocky IV is an excellent example of music scenes. I like the driving scene when "There's No Easy Way Out" by Robert Tepper was playing.

Not 80's movies but I've always felt that Quentin Tarantino always has awesome choices for his musical selections. They always seem to be an extension of the scene instead of being a seperate layer from the scene if that makes any sense. Most songs he has ever used from that point on whenever I hear those songs I visualize the movie. They are forever inseperable in my opinion.

Sammy, I feel the same way about Martin Scorsese-I love his selections in Goodfellas and Casino.

I love Scorsese too

I keep hoping they'll make another Deniro/Pesci gangster related movie. Maybe they will throw a little Pacino on the side...

Posted by Nice Guy Sammy_Hain (Member # 3150) on :

sorry motley but I'm not much of a Pacino fan. I agree 100% that DeNiro and Pesci need to team together again and maybe this time they'll be directed by Tarantino even though Scorses would be cool again or maybe even Ridley or Tony scott.

Living in Stereo (The Cars)- FTARH
Get out of my dreams (Billy Ocean)- LTD

Cry Little SIster -TLB (I forgot who sang this one)

Pesci and DeNiro ARE working together right now on a new gangster flick called "The Good Shepherd" directed by DeNiro himself. I believe the story is about the Irish mob scene in Boston. Check it out on IMDB, also stars Angelina Jolie, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin...

"Real Genius" the ending tune, "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears for Fears.

I don't like these particular songs but somehow they're perfect when they're used in these films:
At the end of "How I Got Into College" the song "Love Changes" by Climie Fisher starts playing.
And at the end of "Cookie", "I Should Be So Lucky" by Kylie starts playing, in both cases they really used the buildup tune to good effect.

Everytime I hear the name Matt Damon, I think about "Team America World Police." LMAO. It's great to hear that DeNiro and Pesci are doing another gangster flick...

Oh, Saweeeet! I am totally psyched. Now I gotta click on that link to see what it's all about.
Hey guys, I was reading the trivia for Casino the other night- they dropped the F-bomb 422 times in the movie, mostly by Pesci!

I liked the scene in "Crossing Delancey" where Isabelle (Amy Irving) is getting a hot dog, and as she's in the deli we see a few B-Boys playing Run-DMC's "It's Like That" on their boombox. All of a sudden, an old woman comes in and sings the classic song "Some Enchanted Evening" from "South Pacific". The Run-DMC track is turned down, and as they watch her sing, the woman comes up to Isabelle and finishes the song as sort of a message that she should probably choose Sam (Peter Riegert).

It's interesting to see how one classic can segue into another.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

(It Takes) Two To Tango by Paul Davis (Karate Kid: Beach scene where Daniel and Ali are looking at one another.)

Feel the Night by Baxter Robinson (Karate Kid: Golf N Stuff Scene with Daniel and Ali.)

Playing with the Boys by Kenny Loggins (Top Gun: Volleyball scene.)

Cruel Summer by Bananarama (Karate Kid: Daniel riding his bike to school.)

Louden, I agree that the warm up scene before you take on Shute is classic stuff. I also love the use of the Berlin song "No More Words" when you rush home and them realize Carla is gone. I still love to take off running when the Journey song "Only The Young" pops up on my I-Pod.

The Sparks "Eaten By The Monster Of Love" when Skip makes his move in Valley Girl. Speaking of making your move, how about Phil Collin's "In The Air Tonight" when Joel finds out the benefits of letting Lana be his girlfriend. [Eek!] [Cool]

Those are all great songs... I love all the music in The Lost Boys...on every scene. I love Corey Haim singing in the bathtub...that is hysterical.

I love the music in the dance scene in Fire with Fire, those are all songs you wanna slow dance with someone too.

Alone In The Dark, the song by The Sic f*cks. chop up your mother or something along those lines. I'm sure Riptide or Mamamia can correct me if I'm wrong. [Big Grin]

I just saw part of Revenge of the Nerds last night while I flipped thru the channels. I think every song was written for each different scene, they were are great. I liked One Foot in Front of the Other for when they're sprucing up the house, then Are You Ready For the Sex Girls when the Omega Mus walk in to the party. I just about fell off the couch laughing when he put on Swing Low Sweet Chariot before LaMar changed it to some dance music.

I agree with eightieschick on the whole Revenge of the Nerds songs/movie scenes deal. It's like each song flowed perfectly with each scene...
