hey guys i love justine bateman from family ties and i was wondering is this movie any good? i saw them talking about it on the top 100 teen stars and was wondering if i should go look for it b/c i thought i saw it in the bargin bin at wal-mart once so is it good ?

It was ok!
At a bargain Bin...I saw yesterday Caddyshack at the bargain bin!

Rainbow, my boyfriend bought it for me for Christmas cause I had only seen bits and pieces of it back in the day. I watched it again and it was downright awful! The only thing I liked was Julia Roberts' character and the little storyline with her and her boyfriend...there's one scene with the 2 of them that's mildy amusing. I guess it's worth a one time viewing but don't say I didn't warn you. See anything else good in that bin?
Posted by Rainbowbrite22 (Member # 2288) on :
um i also saw running on empty is that one any good?
Posted by Luv80steenmvs (Member # 4555) on :
I liked Satisfaction. It's a different movie. I don't like it as much as many other 80s movies, but if you are a fan of the people in it, and of 80s movies, then you should see it! There are some funny parts in it.

I didnt think much of it. Their "band" wasnt anything special either. Its one of those movies that I might watch if it was on TV for free but wouldnt go out of my way to watch. Still it is sort of interesting to see (a blonde!) Julia Roberts before she was famous.

Running On Empty with River Phoenix and Martha Plimpton is AMAZING! He was nominated for an Oscar for this role. Don't go by the cover cause it looks kind of blah and boring but it is such a great story. The chemistry between River and Martha is outstanding! Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Rainbowbrite, I actually liked Satisfaction. I thought Justine Bateman was girl band cool in this movie.
Now, Running on Empty is in a whole different league. River Phoenix is outstanding as a teenager caught up in the past of his parents. Very serious movie.

thanks guys for your imput i think next time i m at wal-mart which will be next tuesday lol i ll dig through the bin and pick these two up i mean its rare you can get two movies for 11 bucks anymore so i ll give them a whirl

As for Satisfaction I've seen better. I don't think for me it would be one that I would buy. I mean if it is on TV and nothing better is on I'll watch it again but otherwise I'd pass.

Watched Satisfaction and sadly i didnīt like it very much. I didnīt care about the characters at all. Justine Bateman tried hard but with poor results.
The music was ok but not great.
Why this movie turned out this way, i just donīt know... It was written by Charles Purpura who also wrote the great Heaven Help Us aka Catholic Boys (1985)

not a lot! i haven't seen it!

I wouldn't buy this movie. Back when I saw it as a teenager it was ok I guess. But watching it now it's just pretty bad. It's pretty much a chick flick with a pretty weak soundtrack.

omg!! Where's Ronnie when I need her? I love this movie......I always sing along.....I pretend cowbell to "knock............on wood" lol
It must be because i'm a girl......and I grew up watching it many times.....I love the girls. and sexaaaaaaaaaaaaay Liam Neeson i love me some 80s Liam.........

I would rather hang myself in the shower than watch this.
Posted by Helen_S (Member # 5804) on :
So you're not really interested then Bernie?
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Well if I was feeling suicidal, 10 minutes into this would surely push me over the edge.

Useful as a tool for zero population growth...
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Trust Crash to chime in...shouldn't you be over on The Facts of Life board?
I hear ya man....this movie looks like a 0/10 but I am sure there will be a few people raving on as if it was the best movie ever made.
Posted by Muffy Tepperman (Member # 1551) on :
Oh I thought this was the Rewind?? not IMDB? on IMDB people are mean to anyone with an opinion.........I seem to get this "suicidal feeling" when I read negative posts.....hmmmmm? haha geeze

ROFL
As I said before about "Satisfaction," I give Liam Neeson all the credit in the world. He admitted that he only did the movie to meet cute girls.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
i have never seen this myself, but i put alot of sock in your guys opinion so should i side step it?
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Well I could give you my philosophy about certain movies but at the risk of sounding like I am a visitor from IMDB, so I'll give it a miss.

Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :

i think they hate satisfaction there too though
Posted by Bernie_Lomax (Member # 8571) on :
Rick, ah we don't have a dog.
That's a shame..that's a waste of some good fat.
I love Bachelor Party.
Caddyshack never gets old for me.
I used to lug 50 pounds of ice up 5,6 flights of stairs.
So what?
So what? So let's dance!

If you guys ever start wondering why very few people are posting on the Rewind lately.. this thread is a great example. And if you can't see it.. that even explains it better than I can try.
Posted by the young warrior (Member # 9554) on :
i wouldn't mind checking this one out actually, was not really took in by the trailer which i saw ages ago , but it seems to have a very good cast,i knew liam neeson starred in it but i had forgotten all about julia roberts and never knew deborah harry was in it as well! now running on empty that's one i've definitely got to get round to seeing, hear nothing but praise for it!

Running on Empty is a great movie. I saw it as a kid and didn't like it but I think that was due to not being able to understand what was happening. I have watched it in the last few years and think it is a great film. Judd Hirsch is great in it too. I don't know why he never got as much praise as what he deserved.
Posted by The Good Package (Member # 9492) on :
i like hirsch too. He should get more work than what he does. him , devito and lloyd were the best on taxi
Posted by kevdugp73 (Member # 5978) on :
Sorry I'm late chimming in Muffy....I love this movie!!!! OK....so the acting is quite horrible....I think this is yet another one of those movies that I watched a lot as a kid, so it's nostaligic for me. Justine is a cutie too.....we'll start a club Muffy!
Posted by Muffy Tepperman (Member # 1551) on :
Agreed Valley!
Kev haha that is great!! let's call it "we love an 80s movie that's cheesy, so kill us club" Thanks for reviving this thread I think I was starting to fall asleep reading quotes from another movie.....oh that's right I just skimmed over it all. haha
Another favorite 80s actor of mine is in it:
Scott Coffey!!!

Well..even though i've already stated I'm nit real into this movie. If you haven't seen it, I say give it a watch and form your own opinion. To be honest, the first few times I saw this movie, I thought it was pretty good. Always got a kick out of the Billy character. Figures I'd go for the pill poppin' junkie of the bunch..lol. But once the movie takes off into the whole "Lolita" love debacle with Neeson & Bateman is where I begin to lose interest. So, on a whole, it's not a bad movie storywise if you like this sappy kinda stuff. I just think I would have enjoyed it more if both the cast and the soundtrack were a bit more on key.

I went to see Satisfaction in the theater. I liked it then, I like it now. I loved seeing Julia Roberts playing bass in a band! Why people hate on this movie is beyond me. It's a nice little popcorn movie.
Posted by Lovers with Cassie (Member # 7794) on :
For my part, I would purchase it and watch it whenever I wanted to.
I wouldn't write a Rewind review of it, but.
Posted by cindymancini (Member # 679) on :
Here's the thing about Satisfaction, it didn't satisfy. I caught it on tv in the last few days so I let it ride & kinda watched it again but the same outcome for me. I am a huge Bateman fan too! Absolutely love love love Jason Bateman! I wanna marry him & have his children, lol! I also always enjoyed Justine on Family Ties but how SHE was cast as the lead singer in this movie baffles me?!?! Her voice is, I'm sorry, terrible. I just can't wrap my head around it...she had an attitude but she just didn't win me over with her band... I really wanted to love this film...darn.
Posted by Crash (Member # 7484) on :
Jason Bateman is one of the most underrated, gifted comic actors around. He's just terrific in the current "Horrible Bosses," was great on "Arrested Development," and was about the only good thing about "Extract." He's a master of the reaction shot--really effective with his "oh no, not again" expression when things go to heck around him.
Posted by Ronnie (Member # 465) on :
Sorry Cindy, Jason and I are already married with 2 kids! haha Seriously though, I also love Jason Bateman. *swoon* Awww you didn't care much for Satisfaction? Justine was not my favorite in this.. she was one of my least favorite characters,..her and Julia Roberts. I liked Liam, and Billie!
I haven't seen "Horrible Bosses" but I am sure I will. He was also in "Paul" which comes out on dvd soon, he was great in that one too.
Back to the movie, the one thing I love most about the movie, was the music, true Batemen's voice was blech.. but still.. and one of best songs played in the movie, was "Stimulation" by the group Wa Wa Nee.
