OH my gosh I just read this what a shock! I wonder if he had a heart attack???? So sad and I just watched him in Footloose tonight too!

Here is the story:

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Character actor Chris Penn, younger brother of Oscar-winner Sean Penn, was found dead on Tuesday at an apartment near the Pacific Ocean in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Monica, police sources said.

No cause of death was immediately determined but there was no signs of foul play, the sources added.

A family spokeswoman confirmed the death and said the Penn family "would appreciate the media's respect of their privacy during this difficult time."

Penn, 43, was a character actor who appeared in dozens of films including "Reservoir Dogs," "Mullholland Falls" and the 2004 film "Starsky & Hutch."

In one of his best known roles, he played baby-faced criminal Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in director Quentin Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs." He also starred along with his brother in the 1986 film "At Close Range."

Recently, Penn voiced Officer Eddie Pulaski in the video game "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas."

Nooooooh! This is too eerie, because I just recently posted something about Gunnar nelson and others getting in shape for a TV show, and I mentioned Chris Penn.

This really sucks, as I loved him in the Wild Life, Resevoir Dogs and True Romance. I find this very sad, I wonder what the cause was?

I am wondering if he had a heart attack. Given his weight it is a possibility. I am gonna go and look him up on imdb.com and see if he has anything new that will be coming out.

I heard about Chris Penn passing away this morning and thought it was horrible Rewind Irony because we had just talked about the fact he would have been a good candidate for Celebrity Fit Club. He was only 43 years old, if that doesn't motivate us to live healthier lives, I don't know what will. Sad News.

Loved Chris Penn in Footloose, All the Right Moves, and The Wild Life. RIP

sad news, Chris Penn's best dramitc performances IMO were in 'Reservoir Dogs' and Abel Ferrera's grim mafia movie 'The Funeral', but he could play a variety of chracters from amiable, flat-footed lummox Willard in 'Footloose', to cheeky cop Nicky Dimes in 'True Romance'. Great actor, sadly missed.

Oh my god, that really does suck. The Wild Life is one of my favorite movies. Did you guys know he was originally cast as Stiffler's Dad in the last American Pie movie? He shot the scenes and everything but they cut them at the last minute [Frown] . Wow, what a shame...

That is horrible! He was some what out of shape, but not that bad, it wasn't like he was obese, he looked like he needed to loose a few pounds. That is sad, to die that young, usually they do find out there is a cause.

I actually saw him in Pale Rider not long ago.

What a tragedy, he's been on the VH-1 I love the 80's shows too.

I just looked at the picture on the link, I hadn't seen that he looked that bad...He was unrecognizable...I never ever would have known that was him. He probably did have health issues.

I feel sorry for the Penn family in their moment of need. He was great in "The Wild Life"...That was one of the first 80s movies I bought from a video store. He was great in it.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff

Yeah, been thinking about it all day. He didn't have the biggest roles, but he was a good charcater actor. Wen I first heard the news and his age, I thought of the football player Reggie White who died unexpectedly and was roughly the same age. Anyways, it's sad news for sure.

It has been bothering me all day...because I feel like he is in my age group of people, even though he's 5 years older than me...I have alot of friends that are hitting the 40 something age bracket...and that is scary when people start dying at that age, but you still even picture them to be a teenager..that is the part that is hard to grasp. Is, Cindymancini just sent me the Wild Life, and I started watching it, and thought he looked really great in it, and it feels like that movie just came out. I can't picture him even having aged...I can't grasp what he looked like in those pictures on that link...I am thinking wow....I dated guys when I was 19-20, who were 9-13 years older than me, and I think holy cow...there are some of them now who are pushing 50, and I think ...how is that possible. I think I am feeling a mid life crisis starting to brew.

I watched E.T. tonight and they said he was 40 years old (born in 1966) and weighed 310lbs. Maybe it had something due to his weight- maybe a heart attack or something. It's just too bad cause he could have had a life long career as a character actor.

310lbs...is alot, but ya know...when I see people who are 500lbs and up to even 1000 lbs...I can't believe they ever lived to get to that weight. I just can't understand how they didn't have a heart attack, or their lungs didn't collapse.

I don't understand when people are bed ridden by weight..who on earth keeps supplying that person with that much food...and I can't understand how people can afford to eat as much as it takes to weight that much. I have seen them do shows on tv and actually say what someone eats to weigh that much, and it's like a lb. of bacon , a dozen eggs, and a loaf of bread for breakfast...they eat like 2 BIG Macs, and super size everything for lunch, and eat entire bags of potato chips, and gallons of ice cream....I can eat, but I get sick as soon as I am full, I can't eat any more, I don't know how people do that with food.

I never thought he weighed that much, I thought he maybe was around 250lbs....I can't remember how big of a guy he was...in Footloose he seemed pretty big (tall), but in The Wild Life he just seemed average height in comparison to everyone else.

40 makes it even worse....I know a bunch people turning 40 this year, and I am not far behind.
