I didn't see the article, but someone at work was telling me that he read that Michael J. Fox is going to do a 4th BTTF movie, but will play a different character? I would like to see the material re-visited, but I think it is stupid to have him play a different character! That would mess everything up. They should just have him play an older Marty McFly and let the new story be about his son which can be played by a new young actor. Did any of you see this story?

I haven't heard anything concrete, although occasional ripples have surfaced over the years. One thing for sure is that a new one won't involve Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale; they've stated clearly they're happy with the franchise ending where it is now.

Hey Bigfoot, it's time to rev-up the the Delorian!
Michael J Fox is once more heading Back to the Future. The 44-year-old actor told Moviehole.net that he is in talks to star in a fourth, and final, film in the franchise, but that he would only do it if he could act his age on screen. "The only way it would work would be if I played Doc [the eccentric scientist played by Christopher Lloyd in the previous three films]. I'm 44-years-old now and I'm not interested in running around on skateboards! I think after BTTF I, II and III we all kind of felt we had done it. And I think if they did it again now they would do it with a younger cast and just do a different realization of it, which would be fun."

I'm not sure I want to see this one made. Don't get me wrong, I am as big a BTTF fan as there can be, but I just don't want the movie to diminish the franchise like they did to Rocky, Jaws, Star Wars and other great films. Also curious to see if Crispin Glover would go for this, knowing him, I think not.

This is just a plain bad idea and Michael J Fox is suffering from parkinson's disease .

Arrrggghhh!! Why can't they just leave a good thing alone?

They'll want to CGI the heck out of it...I can see it now...because people will go to see it.
My son LOVES Back to the Future, it is really is a timeless movie....left alone.....because no matter how old it is...watching it...you definately are going back to the future, even thought their present is now our past...it still works really cool.
The way it would work is how he said...if he was himself as a new "Doc"...not the old Doc....but they will goof it...you can't find young actors that have any talent...there are only so many movies that Dakota Fanning can fit in...and she can't play Marty's part...and she's too young yet, but when she gets to be a teen...man is she going to be busy.

I've heard this too! I think they should leave this movie alone...

isis said: "...there are only so many movies that Dakota Fanning can fit in..."
Plus BTTF Part 4 would entail very little screaming which is about all she did in War of the Worlds. I think it could be done but the key is to find the RIGHT actors and actresses. There would be no part for Dakota in it. And please God no roles for Orlando Bloom or Russell Crowe or Renee Zelwelger...

Oh wow thats original !!
What is it about remaking movies from the past or in this case adding to a series of movies.
Back to the Future 4 might be the best film ever made (although extremely doubtfull) but it still doesn't change the fact that it is a old idea.

Yeah I had read the article and he did say that he would want to come back as Doc? The real question is who would come back as Marty??? I almost think it is impossible to build on the success of a franchise that had it last film over 15 years ago. Also it will be difficult if none of the original writing team has their hands in it.
