It's the story of a smart kid who builds robots. One day he makes a clone of himself who comes to life in an egg. His clone is the opposite of himself, he's cool and popular at school. The kid is in love with a cool girl who's in a band. In the movie, they sing "I want a new drug" from Huey Lewis and the News.

Sounds a bit like "The Other Me," but that was a Disney Channel original movie and it's pretty recent.
