Me and my son watched The Breakfast Club last night together for the first time. It was edited (of course)....but they put 2 scenes in...1 scene we talked about before...that I had never saw before then...but I didn't see the whole entire scene before...if that makes sense.

The scene is where they are going to go get a drink from the cafeteria, and Vernon tells them to "ante up" , and Bender puts his hand out to Brian, for some money, and Brain slaps him 5, and then he goes...ohh...and he gives Andrew money for John too, and then Claire holds up a $50 and says can you break this?

Then when they are running the halls...there's a scene where Vernon is at the vending machines, and they all have to sneek by him one at a time, and Allison stops and just stands there looking at him, and Claire said...she's weird, but she is so cool. I never saw that scene before. Has anyone else?? I liked both of those scenes, sometimes when you see a deleted scene, you understand why they deleted them. But, I liked those ones alot.

Also...I noticed this time watching it...when Vernon is in the basement...he says to Carl.. Hey, Carl...what did you want to be when you grew up?...and Carl says " well, when I was a kid I always wanted to be John Lennon." And Vernon says...Carl...don't be a GOOF!

That cracked me up so bad! I never remembered him saying that before.

Hey Isis,

I know exactly the scenes you're talking about. I had the same experience. I was watching TBC on AMC or something and I was like "WHAT IS THIS??" I really liked both scenes with the money and the "she's weird but she's cool." I think I read somewhere that they took that out because they didn't want Claire to acknowledge Allison in that way at all until the end of the movie...They so need to put out a DVD with all this great extra stuff!! I'd buy it in a minute!

I’ll have to do dust off the old VHS and have a look. I'm with Cindy here, why they don’t have a decent DVD release for this, Ferris Bueller (I suspect the 20th anniversary edition for Ferris is on its way) and Pretty In Pink is beyond me, even the recent High School reunion set was a bit of a con.

Yeah Cindy...I can understand why they did take that one out, because that happens before the whole scene where Allison tricks her in to saying "I never did it!!!!", and then Allison says" I never did either, but I think it's ok, if you love the person. And Claire says..I can't believe you...you don't say anything all day, and then your dump all these lies on me."

You would feel like...why did I ever think that person was remotely cool, so I can see the logic behind that.

It helps to have another hour and a half of footage in your vaults when you're trying ot bend to the wills of TV.

Hi guys, AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! TBC has just been realeased on dvd down under and I watched it just before. BUT....now that you mention it ISIS, neither of those scenes are on the DVD. However, we had it on VHS years ago and I distinctly remember those scenes being in it. Why do you think that they've edited them out?

Hmm, perhaps Hughes put together multiple "final cuts" and chose what he'd consider the best for the theatrical version. After all, he's said Universal tried to bend him to their wishes with it a bit, and perhaps added the scenes they wanted in for the dummy versions.

Devolution here,

These are the scenes that are cut out in the movies, but put back in on TV to fill the remaining time that you need in order to take out some other stuff.

You might also recall some other weird scenes, like the kickball scene in billy madison.

Or the Scene where Jake Ryan reads the note in Sixteen Candles.

Or scene where they go looking for Ron Johnson's car in Fast Times.

These scenes have been well documented on the Rewind before.

We are DEVO

Well...they took the dope smoking scene out in the Breakfast Club...which actually took up some space...and when you add in commercials...you gotta fill the gap with something...it is a good thing they have extra footage...or else it would be an hour long.
