So I watched Ghostbusters II today for the first time.
I can see where it could be considered bad . . . But I liked it. Seeing Rick Moranis in the gray suit just made the movie for me.
Wasn't Peter MicNol playing the same character in Dracula: Dead and Loving It?
Why did Jeanine suddenly become a carrot-topped nerd in love with Louis Tully?
Why did New York forget having their town attacked by a 100 foot marshmallow man in five years?
Why was the judge such a bad actor?
I did like the movie, although those questions are nagging at me. I read the page on here on the movie, so I suppose it was because they were based off of the cartoon? I never saw the cartoon myself, so I wouldn't know. I liked Venkman in this one, though.
"Where are my dirty clothes?" "I put them in the hamper." "I have a hamper?"
"Don't pull any old cheap moves on me." "I wouldn't dream of it. I have all new cheap moves."
What did you guys think?

I didn't mind the film. It was missing some of the charm of the first, but the fun characters made up for some of it's deficiencies. Perhaps the reason New York forgot about the marshmallow man attack was that they all suffer from the same syndrone as Sunnydale residents - no matter what happens, it's all forgotten about within a week. It could be a good way to get through life - I'd rather be oblivious than live in fear of attack from giant confectionary mascots.

Sunnydale and New York must have the same syndrome as Pleasantville residents (sorry, bad Big Wolf on Campus reference). "Oh no, a werewolf! Where did Tommy go? *GASP!* He stole Tommy's letterman jacket! And he's in the SCHOOL HALLWAY! He must be a complete stranger who doesn't go here!"
Ha! Good word choice with the giant confectionary mascots thing. Still, it was like everyone was like, "You're crazy! Sure, we were attacked by ghosts and a giant marshmallow exploded over town five years ago (and we spent three years cleaning marshmallow off of lamp posts and mailboxes), but you're just a sham!" Ah, maybe they're just blocking. Oh well.

I saw Ghostbusters in the cinema 5 times, G2 can't live up to the original because it's that, an original, but it's still very enjoyable because the entire cast are back and still kick butt along with another great soundtrack - don't you just hate sequals where main characters of the first are missing, Tremors 2 anyone?

Actually, I liked Tremors 2, but in all honesty, I think I saw that one first. I liked all the Tremors movies, but I haven't seen the fourth. The series was too serious for me, and I only saw about two seconds of it.
Yeah, a lot of sequels are disappointing. Well, Ghostbusters II could've been worse--it could've been like Gremlins II. O.o

I thought part II was fun, but I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the first one. I did enjoy it though.

I agree with most people here: not as good as the original but it still pulls its own weight (we've all seen worse sequels). It did have it's interesting moments; I still lose it when they heat up the neutrana wands again for the first time ("Do....Re........EGON!!!"); who know Spengler actually had a sense of humor (or that, "Yo!" could be part of his vernacular!)!? And the Titanic's belated arrival, that floors me ("Better late than never."). ANd the big climax where they bring Lady Liberty to life, hoo boy (I suppose if the third goes through they'll try their luck with Mount Rushmore, now that would be something).

There were some good moments in the movie, although the Statue of Liberty got a little much for me. If they tried Rushmore, they'd have a bit of a problem with, y'know, legs and bodies and stuff.
