What is something that is unique about you that you take pride in and really find it as a true quality to your personality.
I think that my honesty is the most important thing. I really treat someone the way that I want to be treated. I do have to say that if someone does something really horrendous to me then I am done with them.
My motto that I like to live by treat others the way that you want to be treated. I am such a firm believer in this.
I like to do things for people that are deserving. Who wants to help someone out that treats you bad. Oh well I have rambled and rambled on.
What would we be surprised to know about you?
Posted by isis9968 (Member # 1780) on :
Hmmmmm....I don't know if there is anything left about me to tell, that I haven't already told.
This is a toughy...
I am very much like what I am on here in person.
I don't lie about anything, unless it is one of those things to spare someone's feelings type things, but I don't like it when people tell me things that I find out later they completely made up. I know people that constantly lie about everything to everybody, and I can't stand it.
I treat everyone I know with respect.
I feel like I really respect and value life, and I wish more people did and realized that no matter how bummed you ever feel, that life can change in an instant, and tomorrow things you worried about today, might not even matter.
I value friendship, and once someone is my friend, I don't ever blow them off. I see that happen so much, I have had it happen to me, your friends with someone, and out of the blue you see them in a store, and they pretend like they never saw you before in their life, and you know you didn't have a fight, nothing happened, they just for some reason, move on, and I don't like that at all, I never understand how people are capable of that.
Something that would surprise people though....hmmmm...once in the middle of November ( gee..this is appropriate timing)...it was in 1986....my Grandparents built an indoor swimming pool, and they put the inground pool in, and the building wasn't up yet...my Grandma said she would pay me $5 to dive in the pool in my underwear, it was beyond freezing, but hey...$5 is $5....and I did it!!! I have the pictures to proove it...right Valley-
I think it would surprise people, because I have such a reputation of being a complete prude, which I totally am, so that was actually something pretty daring even back then for me.

THAT I STILL CRY WITH GARY AT THE END OF.......THE LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN I CAN'T HELP IT I KNOW THIS MOVIE IS 20 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE SEEN IT A 1000 TIMES BUT GARY DID'NT DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE THAT. DAMN THAT KAREN & RICK!!!!
OH I ALMOST FORGOT I'M STILL NOT COMFORTABLE WITH BEING IN THE DARK! I'M NOT SCARED! I'M JUST UNCOMFORTABLE WITH PITCH BLACK.....
Posted by isis9968 (Member # 1780) on :
I am not scared of the dark, not any more, but I use to be...I use to check under my bed every night before getting in it to make sure there was nobody hiding under there. I think I did that until I was about 21!!
Between the clown in Poltergeist, and The Shining previews, and the Salem's Lot kid floating up to the window, it is a wonder I got any sleep in the 70's and 80's.
Posted by Obscurus Lupa (Member # 2700) on :
Hm . . .
I sleep with the covers over my head, and since seeing The Grudge, I've since been checking to make sure the clicky woman won't come out of the covers and suck me into the bed.
I find myself eating M&M's and looking at the cover with the M&M characters and thinking, "If I were the green M&M, I would SO go for the yellow M&M over the red M&M."
I also recall thinking, "The Flinstones weren't very practical." and "If Batman and Spiderman were in a fight, who would win?" I figured it'd be Batman, even if I like Spiderman better, but then I thought, "But I like Michael Keaton better than Tobey Maguire. If Tobey Maguire and Michael Keaton were in a fight, who would win?" I figured it'd be Michael Keaton. I mean, he's friggin' Beetlejuice. Tobey Maguire, although talented and pretty good-looking, was a character in Pleasantville.

Let me say that...my mom just invested in a top of the line mattress, because she has had 3 back surgeries, and several vertabre fused together in the back of her neck. The best investment anyone can make, is buying a good mattress. We spend so much on tvs, and movies, and going out to eat, but getting a good night's sleep totally effects your health, and everyone goes to sleep every night. I was doing alot of research on it for my mom, and lack of quality sleep can lead to all kinds of health problems. I know this isn't movie related, but I just wanted to give ya a little tip Sam...Invest in a good mattress system, you'll be glad you did.

I don't have the money to afford a good mattress and my credit rating is less than perfect.

I love you C.T! I was going to post that I am afraid of the dark. And you beat me to it. I also loved your LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN POST.
Well anyway...I am very afraid of the dark: especially sleeping in the dark alone: I have lava lamps I put on when I have to sleep alone, the hall light too and I also lock myself in the room. Another interesting thing is I sleep in a Captains bed...so I dont have an "under the bed" that a Boogeymans hand can grab my foot from when I get in bed. My guest room has a captains bed and my daughters room has a trundle bed....so no one has a bed that a hand can pop out of. I also check closets. I guess theres no real title for this phobia so lets just call it the"watches too many horror movies/Thinks theres a Boogeyman" fear.

OH MY GOD MAMAMIASWEETPEACHES said she LOVES ME! i'm starting to blush. I also lock my bedroom door too and sleep with a pistol-grip shotgun under my bed. Especially after reading about THE NIGHT STALKER in the 80s in CALI. Till this day i think about that when i hear a BUMP IN THE NIGHT. And wonder if there could be someone out there that wont's to be a copycat of THE NIGHT STALKER.

MAMAMIASWEETPEACH DO YOU REMEMBER THAT MTV REALITY SHOW CALLED "FEAR" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT? IT CAME ON MTV. WHERE THEY WOULD PUT PEOPLE IN OLD MENTAL WARDS AND HAUNTED JAILS. I THINK THE SURREAL LIFE CAST HAD TO GO ON "FEAR". THEY WOULD STRAP A CAMERA TO YOUR NECK AND SEND YOU INSIDE THE SCARY BUILDING.

I vaguely remember that one. Must not have been to popular because I don't think it lasted to long. To me it would have been like being in a spook house which really makes my stomach turn. I scream so much in those things I really don't like them.

Posted by Obscurus Lupa (Member # 2700) on :
Smayt- Agree on the Michael Keaton versus Tobey Maguire thing, but I think Batman would beat Spiderman as well. I never was a big Batman fan as he didn't have any real powers and he was always so serious, but I think he has the advantage. Spiderman was ALWAYS running out of webbing, and Mary-Jane was always getting kidnapped, which really gave him a weakness. So all Batman would have to do is kidnap Mary-Jane (or Peter's aunt; she was in trouble a lot, too) and go someplace REALLY high that took a lot of webbing to get to. Spiderman's radioactive spider-induced strength might give the advantage in a physical fight, but Batman had gadgets that helped him out a bit, too.
Can you tell I'm not a big comic book geek? My brother used to watch Spiderman all the time, and I'd catch it every once and awhile.

CT, funny you mention the Night Stalker. He shot someone a mile from my house when I was nine. He was in and out of Orange County/LA killing people, then finally on the news one morning, we found out he had struck only a block away. I was freaked to say the least.
What I remember the most as a kid, was that he had five different nicknames: The Night Stalker, The Intruder, The Invader, and a couple others. Being a simple kid, I thought that meant there were five different guys killing people!

HOW did you ever sleep at night? I have always heard about The Night Stalker but i never read about his killing spree untill last year. On Court TV.Com and as i read about the people he terrorized in the VALLEY in the 80's i got CHILLS! I was really scared to death after reading about that monster. -I usually eat chocolate and potato chips or chicken tenders for lunch.
-I don't have a driver's license yet...I don't even have a permit.
-I haven't had a girlfriend in 4 years.
-I'm 21 years old and I'm still a virgin.
-I once made an empty death threat in one school I attended.
-I met Jim Henson a few months before he died.
-To this day, I'm scared of Porky Pig popping out of the drum and going "Th-th-that's all, folks!".
-Whenever I see an MGM movie, my feet have to be in the air, and not on the ground or couch when the lion roars.
-My favorite movie opening logo is the current Warner Brothers logo with the brief bit of "As Time Goes By" that plays in the background.
-I still watch "Sesame Street" and Disney stuff.
-I'm a conservative-leaning independent whose only liberal views are those on gay marraige and the legalization of prostitution and marijuana.
-Between VHS and DVD, I own over 200 movies easy.
-I drink 1 caffeinated soda a day Wednesday through Saturday, and then I drink 3 or 4 or them on Sundays and Mondays.

Despite this, I'm at around 210 pounds, which may seem heavy, but take into consideration that I was once 250 pounds and I haven't gotten anywhere near that weight in over 2 years, despite the fact that I live on junk food and carbonated drinks.
More will be revealed in due time.

I actually enjoy listening to both Neil Diamond and Tom Jones. Deep down they're a couple metalheads.
I once won $10,000 in a scratch off lottery game back when I lived in Minnesota
I shot some basketball with Phil Jackson back when I was about 7 years old.
I met Jeffery Dahmer at the Chicago bus depot less than a month before he got caught. So I have my own serial killer story too.
I've been in 37 of the 50 states
I was a student manager for my high school basketball team the last time they won the state tournament.
Posted by isis9968 (Member # 1780) on :
Sam, did Jeffery Dahmer try and take you home with him??
Bigfoot...the song Desperado...gives me chills, cause it flashes me back to 1987, when I worked in Virgina, and my boss use to sing that song to me, and drive me crazy, because the last part of the word sounded like my maiden last name, and he'd sing it, and say "why don't you come to your senses." He was a total pervert. I LOVE the EAGLES. My favorite songs of theirs are "One of These Nights, and In the City, and I Can't Tell you why.
Posted by Sam Hain 666 (Member # 3150) on :
I've read that Dahmers MO towards the end of his spree was taking the bus from his home in Milwaukee to the bus depot in Chicago and asking guys who were travelling alone if they would like to party at his place in Milwaukee which he asked me if I would. I should emphasise that I'm not 100% sure it was Dahmer but his appearance was simillar to what Dahmer looked like and the fact that he asked me to party with him in Milwaukee makes me fairly sure it was him. At the time it happened it was pretty insignificant and it was something that I completely forgot all about until a few years after the matter. I believe Dahmer had already been killed in prison when I remembered the tall blonde haired guy who tried to pick me up in Chicago. Guess it really didn't bother me to much when i remembered the incident because i never even thought for a second to go with him. I had already been on the bus for about 40 hours at that time and gone from home for over a week so i was just wanting to get home. I'm just curious to find out if later on that night if he did end up picking up one of his victims.
Posted by Sam Hain 666 (Member # 3150) on :
another interesting tidbit is that I am a serial killer buff to some extent I had 3 Jeffery Dahmer books before I remembered about him trying to pick me up.
One interesting tidbit. The movie The Lost Boys was loosely based on the going-ons in Santa Cruz California in the early 70's as there were two serial killers on the loose that killed a combined 21 people in about an 11 month period of time thus earning it the dubious distinction of being "The Murder Capital of the World" When they are first driving into town at the beginning of the movie on the back of one sign it says "Murder Capital of the World"
