I have already heard about this about two weeks ago, that Jaimie Foxx will play Tubbs and Colin Farrell will play Sonny Crockett.
I was never much of a "Miami Vice" fan, though I watched occasionally. But I was hoping they would never make a movie out of this.
And besides, the look and the feel of the new version will be very different.
I mean, the whole point of "Miami Vice" was that it was like a MTV version of a cop show. But nowadays, even MTV doesn't look like anything what it used to be. So, I dread what the new look will be like. I doubt they will use mostly 80's songs on the movie version (except Jan Hammer's theme song); they will very likely use more current-day songs.
At least Michael Mann (who directed the TV show) will direct the new movie version. But I'm not really looking forward to this.

I think if they make this into more of a comedy, like Starsky and Hutch this could be one funny movie

I'm so tired of classic TV shows/movies being remade. Can't anybody in Hollywood come up with an original idea anymore?

I heard that crap a couple weeks ago. I don't like their cast choices at all. I'm all for a movie version as long as it is a serious film and it is set in the '80s with an all '80s soundtrack. If it is going to be another updated comedy version like Charlie's Angels & Starsky And Hutch then I would rather them not do it! And if it's not set in the '80s...then what's the point of even making it?!? The only plus to the whole thing is that Michael Mann is directing it. Maybe he will stay true to his original creation. I guess the whole Jamie Fox casting was because they just worked together in Collateral.

It may be interesting. I wasn't much of a fanof the show. But the main reason the show was so successful was because of their wardrobe. We will have to see what happens.

I doubt that it will be any good. None of the other remakes are. And I don't see these two actors doing it any justice. It just wouldn't be the same thing.

Miami Vice was a show which personified the '80s! From the wardrobe and colors to the music, talk and dance. I thought it captured the '80s very well. If a kid ever asks you "what was it like in the '80s?... you can sit them right down and show them Miami Vice.

well, you all don't know how it will turn out YET. it may be funny, it may bomb. but having 2 big actors like that will certainly draw in the crowds, and the die hard miami fans. i am not even a fan of the show, but i just wanted to share for those that are .
