Anyone get the new RS? They have the top 500 albums, didn't buy it yet but I leafed through it. Some surprises. Michael Jackson's Off the Wall was #88, and I didn't see Thriller. Anyone else see this issue?

i didn't see the mag, but i saw a list of it said thriller was #20. could be wrong.
i saw rolling stones top 100 guitar players. and i thought it was bullcrap.
they had eddie van halen somewhere in the 70s.

Yeah, didn't like their choices for guitar players either. What was Randy Rhoads ranked?

Devolution here,
OK, now I understand that my favorite bands aren't going to get the respect of some others. I understand that the Beatles deserve 5 of the first 15 albums. I EVEN give much respect to them giving London Calling the 9th spot on the list. It is in fact amazing that they (Rolling Stone) give that band, that much respect. But ONE DEVO ALBUM????
Come on Rolling Stone
Where the F--- is FREEDOM OF CHOICE!?!?!?!?
They only use Freedom of Choice NOW for a commercial, and Whip it for that matter too.
Scary, society is scary, or maybe I am just passionate. But there are 2 Mott the Hoople Albums!
The talking heads are well represented too.
This is Bull.
We are DEVO

I agree.
Who made this list?… Paul McCartney himself??? Or at least someone of the same age it seems. I can’t find myself one bit in the order of importance of this top 500.

Devolution here,
Shocker of the universe
The Clash at number 9 with London Calling!
They did something right, tremendous company to be around.
We are DEVO

I can't believe that Devo's debut didn't make it. Are we not Men, we are Devo. That album is always listed in great album polls. Echo and the Bunnymen only got one album on there.

Devolution here,
Rip, it did make it it's # 447
We are DEVO

RS top 500. A list for Journalists, by journalists. I'm not losing sleep over this one.
You all know what you think is best. And I'd leave it at that. Matter of fact, I'd be quite worried if some of my fave's started showing up in the top 500

Yes, I agree Banshee, I guess I would be afraid if some bands i like made it on the list. I take it you like Siouxsie? I don't recall seeing what spot Led Zeppelin 4 was either. As for the critical nods, it always seems that Talking Heads always get better props than Devo,. But I like the Devo debut better than Remain in Light.

Riptide - no, not a big Siouxsie fan. But, right now, I'm on a bit of a 'Clash' and 'Pogues' kick. Maybe we should kick off some kind of poll and see what the contributors to the board rate best (it's only a suggestion, mind. Not sure who'd do the collation?

Banshee , I'm into those bands as well. I saw Dropkick Murphys recently, reminded me of both those bands. Also like Rancid, Stiff little Fingers, Ruts, UK Subs and Buzzcocks.
