Somebody please help!! I have to do a film review thing for college! I've chosen to review The Labyrinth (the 1986 film starring David Bowie).
I need to answer the following...
What is the genre of the film? Is there any stereotyping in the film? If so, which bits? What is the narative structure of the film?
Please help! It's really urgent!!

Do your own homework HA HA only Joking!!!
Im thinking bout it now, Good mind boggler.
Ok I think the Genre is FANTASY.
I dont think there is any sterio typing, LUDO is the big monster thing, they are usually perceived as being bad or evil but he is really gentle and friendly.
Fairy's are supposed to be nice but the fairy's in the garden that Hoggle is spraying bite sarah's hand when she is sympathetic.
I think this film avoids sterio typing and reverses everything.
Hope i helped.

Well according to the IMDB page, it's a 'family adventure fantasy musical'. Family cos there's no sex or swearing in it, musical cos David Bowie is in it, so probably best to say Fantasy Adventure, because tat actually describes the movie.
Stereotyping doesn't go much further than: spoilt teenage girl, annoying little kid brother, evil goblin king (ever read about a good goblin king?) and other than that - Big Monsters bad, Little Furry Monsters good.
And Narrative Structure? Not sure. There's the fact that Jared can comment on whatever Sarah does, because he can see it all, so you get a kind of voiceover thing going. You certainly have lots of mini-episodes (Sir Didymus, Hoggle, Ludo) going on around a central thread (Sarah trying to get to the castle, Jared trying to stop her). Other than that you're on your own. I just enjoy the movie, never really stopped to think about the narrative structure before!

You must surely mention the extreme tightness of Mr.Bowies grey leggins. So tight you can almost tell what religion he is ha ha. On a serious note MISTER ,if you have any questions about Bowie himself or his songs in the film, just let me know ok 'cos I have loads of books on the great man which may be of help to you.
