In 1991 I saw a really good 80's movie about a college student who was racing a muscle car around the two cities of Detroit (I think!!) on behalf of his college (COLLEGE A) against another guy in a different college(COLLEGE B). The other guy (COLLEGE B) and his friends ruined the car of the first guy (COLLEGE A). IN the race against time the old mechanic from (COLLEGE A) unearthed the coolest muscle car you've ever seen from an underground store on the college football field and with the help of just about very local person the managed to win the race. I understnad that this description is a bit hazy but I would really appreciate anybodys suggestions as this has been killing me for years and I have only recently found this site. The closest thing I can think of is 'High School USA' (1983) with Michael J Fox.

Hi, I also think you are referring to high school USA, as soon as as started reading your message that movie came to my mind, and I keep thinking about some other movie like that one but I just don't get a picture of another one.
