I am a bit young, I admit, but I have stumbled across the wonderful worl known as the 80's (as far as movies go) I love 'Some Kind of Wonderful' and 'When Harry Met Sally' because the guy ends up with his gal pal. (And by the way I agree with what Billy Crystal says abouts guys and girls being unable to be just friends. I'm friends with this guy and he says he feels tension. What the....?) Anyways, any help is greatly apreciated!

You have probably hit the two key ones right there. Some Kind Of Wonderful and When Harry Met Sally are great movies.
I'd add Big Trouble in Little China, because Kurt Russell and Kim Catrall spend the movie at each others throats, and get together at the end. And of course, The Sure Thing. Gotta see John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga in this one (directed by Rob Reiner, who also did When Harry.... )
There are a whole load more that take a slightly different view - Weird Science, where the boys get the girls they were interested in, albeit by a strange route, or Gregory's Girl, where Gregory is interested in one girl, but ends up winning another (who I always thought was way better for him).

Actually, Paul, Kurt declines Kattrall at the end of Big Trouble. And that's said in a friendly reminder kind of way (I hate how typed words sometimes are misconstrued ).
But that's what I liked about the ending, Russell was very honest about "eventually I always rub everyone the wrong way".
The few that come to mind for me are "Secret Admirer" (much like Some Kind, with the girl in love with the oblivious guy), "One Crazy Summer" (Cusack and Moore were friends till the end), and "Spaceballs" (though Zuniga and Pullman were bitter enemies).

Have you guys forgotten about one of the most memorable films of the 80s where the guy ends up with best gal pal?
Teen Wolf!

Thank you all sooo much! It was really very nice to reply rather quickly. I'm on an 80's kick and those particular type of romantic comedies appeal to me! So thanx again! "paulshrimpton You have probably hit the two key ones right there. Some Kind Of Wonderful and When Harry Met Sally are great movies." I totally agree!

Probably more 90's, however, I always really like About Last Night (Rob Lowe, Demi Moore),or even St Elmo's Fire. Again I think more the 90's but worth a look, it's on the friendship trail in any case.

Duckie never actually ended up with anyone. He did have a couple of cheerleader types escort him into the Prom at the end, but Molly Ringwald ended up with Andrew McCarthy, which I always thought was a bit of a cop-out ending. I'd have preferred it if she had chosen the Duck-Man

There's another Jon Cusack movie...Better off Dead. He had the pretty blond, but ends up with the spunky, foreign exchange student.
