I read this quote from the "you know you grew up in the 80s if..." you knew what this quote means. Well my sister and I have been racking our brains for weeks and we can't figure it out, it is sooo familiar.
If anyone knows this quote I would LOVE to hear from you otherwise this will continue to bug me for ages........... Thanks :)

Bo_nz:
The quote was used in a TV commercial for a product called Red Alert, around the late 80's and early 90's. It was a personal alarm emergency device signal for people who were either senior citizens, disabled, or have very limited means to call for help. This was in the days before everybody began using cellular phones!

The commercial would show a senior citizen, after falling down in a bathroom or the staircase or in the kitchen and calling for help. But there's nobody else there, and they can't get to a phone. So, that is why the Red Alert system was needed.

I believe the Red Alert company is no longer in business, but there are some other current companies that perform an improved version of what Red Alert once did.

You might want to try the following site:

Hope this helps!

The popularity really came from the way the old lady in the ad said it. So stiff and unfeeling. Like if you were reading "This End Up" aloud off a box. She falls, squirms, and says the line so badly that people cracked up. There was an old man that goes "I'm having a heartattack!" as he presses his beeper. He was convincing. The old lady (actually named by the company as "Mrs. Fletcher") was horrid.
