i remembered watching this movie when iwas 15 n i watch it twice in e cinema....till now i consider it was one of e best introduction to a hollywood teens idol...what i mean here they r now a great stars to colour the screen there r tom cruise,patrick sawzye,tom howell, ralph macchio,matt dillon,emilio estevez,diane lane.......n those out there who haven't watch it rent it or buy it......itwas a great movie as the quotes ....."they are not looking for fight they're looking to belongs..."

i have to agree, it's one of the best movies of the 80s and the story really got to me...kind of a sad story...i remembered seeing C. Thomas Howell in the series Kindred:the Embraced and i thought to myself; he looks exactly the same as he did in The Outsiders:)

An instant classic!!! "NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY"...what a line!!! Quite the ensemble, too...lotsa up-&-comer's in this one!!!
