Ronnie.. this is the first I've heard of a reboot.

 -

Totally enjoyed the original series from the mid-80's, but I never caught it on a regular basis ..

 -

I just looked it up and here was what brought back memories.. Lion-O was the leader who was full of courage. He had a team he could depend on-the strong Panthro, the reliable Tygra and the beautiful Cheetara who could run really fast. They helped him in his battle against the evil Mumm-Ra. I totally remember being impressed with the evil bad dude especially for a cartoon character he was wicked.

Ronnie.. unfortunately the trailer you posted won't play on my phone. I'll try watch it on my desktop later.

Oh and if anyone wants to get a taste of the original cartoon from 1985 .. full episodes are available on imdb. Check it out!

I actually thought they would make a movie of this. I think it could translate to the big screen quite well.

I loved the original. Mumra was way scarier than Skeletor....fact!

Indeed; I consider Mum-Ra the best serious TV cartoon villain of the decade; cool, calculating, capable of both direct assaults on our heroes or sitting back and letting others either voluntarily or not do the dirty work for him, and in contrast to Skeletor, you get the impression he does thoroughly think each plan out thus amping up his threat level in the mind of viewers to the point where you definitely have a little bit of doubt that our heroes will come through again. I'll confess I was a bit unnerved every time he transformed into his "Super Pharaoh" form back in the day; besides being a powerful visual design in that state, watching his wrappings explode off him (all while he lets out that unearthly yell) was visualing disturbing. If he is in fact the main villain of this feature, hopefully they can do him (and Mar-Mutt if they do include his heavily underrated pet) justice.

Ok, the pic added to the EA quote is freaking me out. I guess he wins for 'most creepy / insane'.

But if Megatron / Cobra Commander hear about this thread... we'll all be in trouble.

This is my only problem with the trailer....Thundercats was so awesome because it had that funny parts to it too and you really loved the characters....I hope the new isn't all action and loses what was awesome about the cartoon?

Muffy Teppersnarf?

In a related note... I was reading a thread about Stephen King yesterday, and someone said something about revisiting things you loved as a kid, and how He-Man didn't stand up because they reused shots all the time, and that watching Thundercats again you realise Lion-o was actually kind of a d!ck!

Count me in as an '80's kids who actually preferred the 2011 "Thundercats" cartoon to the original '80's version. I'm a fan of Japanese anime, and the animation in the newer version was much edgier & interesting (to me, at least) than the '80's version. That's just me, however.

I haven't seen the entire 2011 series yet, just the first 8-10 episodes. I know this new series didn't last that long.
