Of course alot of 80's sitcoms had a cheesy formula and many had a "nerd" kid.........did you have a favorite sitcom nerd and why?
I loved Carol Seaver on Growing Pains.........she verbally fought hard with her oh so charismatic brother. She had a winey-ness that was lovable.........she shed her glasses in later seasons to become a babe in disguise........I always loved her! She tried so hard to be cool.....when all along I thought she was.

Some memorable ones for me include Paul from the Wonder Years, Frasier from Cheers, and Willie from ALF was kind of a nerd....let's not forget the Head of the Class ensemble....

Gonna have to give it up to both Balki & Larry from 'Perfect Strangers' on this one. Most would side with Balki being the favorite of the two, but I think Larry was just as funny. And both characters were definitely very nerdy in their own outlandish ways. Easily one of the funniest comedy duos in a TV show IMO.
